Be more friendly
Hi askana,
I will be in touch tommorrow, I’m very interested to see if we can work together.
I will also be at CAC. We do not have a booth but I will be attending all 3 days and would love to meet any CAP affiliates.

InactiveHi guys,
I appreciate the thoughts of stopping spam, especially in PMs, however, I think that so much aggression because of one pm into your inbox a tad over the top. I got one too, decided not to respond and may come back to it at a later stage. If, however, I get another one soliciting me without me ever responding to the initial one, then, yes – I would consider it spam.
How many solicitations do you receive in your emails? Affiliate programs, link exchanges, special offers etc etc. These can also all be considered spam. But how would I ever contact anybody for a link exchange idea if I do not either email them or as happens on the boards here pms. I get them, many people get them and more often than not result in a good deal.
bb1webs brought up a suggestion as to where these could be posted, but I must be honest, I don’t read over section on the board and also tend to wait for ages before I add any new approved program. Lethargic, lazy, whatever
but that is the case.Sooooo—- after that long ramble and half of you fast asleep sleeping.g all I actually wanted to say is that maybe one pm sent is not something to get all that worked up about.. two pms to the same tune from the same group, yes…

InactivePolicy is that new programs post in the new programs section.
PMs are meant for members to contact members, and that applies to affiliates and certified programs.
That said, not sure how the Professor feels about it, personally I feel like Peralis. Take it or leave it, no point getting all upset about it.
There are certainly enough reasons to grow grey hair these days.

InactiveNo-one is getting upset …
But I’m not OK with non-certified programs sending mass PM’s.And no – we don’t have to “be friendly” like some touchy feely 3rd grade elementary school class if an experienced affiliate manager sees no problem in breaking common board ettiquitte.
PartnerNordica quite happily SPAM’s PM boxes …
Yes – I’ve had multiple unsolicited messages
:bullshit:That does not make them someone that I want to work with.

InactiveTheGooner wrote:But I’m not OK with non-certified programs sending mass PM’s.Question… why would a certified one need to? They have their own forum…and if a certified program sent mass pm’s.. would that be ok?
Just feel that one pm from a group is nothing to get yourself all worked up about.

InactiveI was never ‘worked up’. I just didn’t feel that a mass PM was appropriate either. The PM was generic and was sent to plenty of people.
If I knew Chris – It would have been different, but I don’t. Doesn’t bother me, I just wanted it NOT to continue to a shitload other people who probably don’t like generic mailings.
PM’s should be free of spam – I get enough in my regular mailboxes

Thanks for the offer anyway, Chris, I’ll wait until I get a real opinion about your program and then will either elect to signup or not

GuestHi again all,
well the thing is …… is that there isn’t much room allowed in the PM section …. I know i am constantly trying to figure out what to keep and what to delete as I fear I’ll delete something that I may need later.
I recall Renee asking about how to download all hers to some program ….I forget what now and which thread … wish I’d paid more attention.
yes one PM spam is not the end of the world but it does set bad precedent. Currently i am having people I WAS doing content stuff with … switch to emails because i can keep them longer and as such ….. keep track of where I’m at with each one.
a lot of this is my own inability to organize. I admit that. but spam is spam and there’s no reason to have to put up with it when you get it in so many other forms.
my PMs are the one place I can usually log into and count on finding important and quality correspondence. as i stated earlier .. it would be different if there weren’t a thread provided for new programs to state their case in such fashion.
If people are interested in joining a new program … they’ll seek out these threads and apply accordingly.
I’m not upset. I just don’t want what precious space I have devoted to me .. for PMs from other peers …. taken up by new programs promoting their product when for instance . .. I have already seen a thread about this company …..I believe it was under multi-teir signups.
what’s really frustrating is the thought i’d lose important correspondence because in its place is a spam PM.
Just the other day I went thru and deleted all my outgoing PMs even though I know I’ll need to revisit some of them to know where i’m at with some people.
*thus the reason i had posted in a thread I’d started about free content offer .. that people should contact me to remind me if they don’t get any in a while. I have simply forgotten where we are at and can no longer have access to the PM’s I sent with this content.
I just think considering the limited space ……its good policy NOT to allow such spam.

InactivePeralis – obviously that’s a trick question … because a certified company would NOT stoop to mass spaming personal message systems.
Personal messages are just that – a system for exchanging messages with people you know or have met through the forum.
I’m even happy to take detailed discussions and enquiries from companies that take the time to know something about us – or are reacting to a post or message on the forum. That’s lead generation – I understand that.
This isn’t the same thing. It’s the same generic message sent to many recipients.
It’s SPAM. Pure. Simple. SPAM.
SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM
:spam:
:spam4:I don’t want my inbox full of these “invitations”.
Perhaps we should all forward them to you??Mmm .. yes that’s what I’ll do … enjoy it !!

InactiveTheGooner wrote:Perhaps we should all forward them to you??Mmm .. yes that’s what I’ll do … enjoy it !!
:stirpot:It is a shame that you would stoop to this level… thanks for the pm.
I was actually discussing this issue – really never expected you to turn on somebody that did not agree with you and resort to childish antics.

InactiveGooner, you are getting of line. Peralis said he didn’t mind one unsolicited mail and you want others to forward him theirs?
I don’t want to close this thread because members should know that the spam did occur and act on it the way they personally think is right.
This thread is not about whether Peralis is disturbed by a PM or not. We don’t make these things personal at CAP.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Please don’t exploit the absence of the Professor and myself by starting arguments. You know CAP doesn’t allow members to flame each other.

vladcizsolMemberSorry guys I took the weekend off and didnt see this.
Chris the PM system at CAP is for members to communicate private with each other. It’s not a prospecting tool. You are welcome to post about your program in the New Programs area and once you are certified you can post commercial messages in your forum area. You can use the PM system to communicate with affiliates, just not for “cold calling”.
April 30, 2007 at 1:37 pm #735312
supervinceMemberAn affiliate manager sending out pm’s to forum members trying to recruit them is no different than one of us getting on a forum with gamblers and sending pm’s trying to recruit players. It is spam and its something that should not be tolerated.

InactiveHi Guys,
I am sorry that people got so offended by this. I know that Chris in no way wanted to annoy any of you and didn’t think of it as spam at all.
Anyways I wanted to say Good luck to those of you who have signed up or is about to sign-up.
@Peralis
I hope all is well with you and wanted to say thank you for pleasant evening with Lloyd and the rest of the guys in London.Back then I promised to send you a mail when we where live. I just wanted to say that I haven’t forgotten about you. We have experienced some problems with MGS currency converter which should be fixed mid week and then we can turn on the casino affiliate program (we hope!)
I’ll catch up with you in Amsterdam and explain everything – if you are going this year!?
I lost your card so I just wanted to post in this threat when it came to my attention today.
Feel free to contact me on [email protected] otherwise we will meet in a few days from now :hattip:
Take care,

BingoRoyaltyMemberHi,
I just sent a PM to Professor to apologize and thought I would share:
First off, I apologize however you mentioned:
Professor wrote:You can use the PM system to communicate with affiliates, just not for “cold calling”.I was communicating that affiliates are free to join our program. I will be ringing the same affiliates down the track, some will hangup some will do business. I did not send a mass PM. I PM around 15-20 members who I really wanted to let know we are live as they are premium affiliates.
Some affiliates were upset or annoyed I didn’t PM them ,lol.
I spoke to warren about the thread on MSN today and he said he would back me up.
Anyway alot of affiliates replied to my PM and we are now doing business, I really feel it was a minority who thought this was spam.
Again full apologies to any CAP affiliates who were put out by this unjust act.
Thankyou to those affiliates (the majority) who replied and appreciated me contacting them, lets make some money!
Chris
