I had a similiar problem with this program a few years back. It does mess up your computer to a point. I wound up paying for the full version where then I was able to delete appropriate files! I agree, this is terribly unethical. Sorry I didn’t post this BEFORE your troubles….it was awhile ago and the thought never occured to me!

Yep, that’s exactly why they do this!! Force unsuspecting people to pay them.:banger:

You may have better success by deleting all files and folders via a dos prompt.
To do this you’ll have to re-boot your PC in dos mode and delete the files from dos, not Win.
Using Safe mode or a dos prompt from within your Win OS wont work!
As far as the registy entries. I’m hoping you have a backup of an earlier version of these. Te you can simply do a roll back and everything should be cool.
As a side note. This is very good example of why you should take a registry backup before installing unkown software

What I wound up doing was to change the names of all the files I couldn’t delete. Then I rebooted, and was able to delete them, since they were no longer recognizable by the program!
I’m still checking around to find other crap they may have left lurking. Then I’ll do a defrag to try to mop up this debacle.
Do you have their contact info? Where are they located? :beatup:

Thanfully that worked for you. I was worried that seeing what the proggy did it may also replicate new files but obviously it didn’t.

Is this the CA product? Seems odd that they would behave like this.
http://www.ca.com/products/pestpatrol/Never mind, I answered my own question by going to the URL you posted above. Same software. I use a variety of CA products, and I’ve been quite pleased. Odd that this is such a debacle. Good luck resolving it.
