In WI, the megabucks lottery revenue goes toward property tax relief. It won’t save anyone here from foreclosure, but every bit helps. I’m sure the other states will ‘get with the program’ and also sell online. It would be a good learning experience for them too!
They will want to get advice from professionals like the Nevada Gaming Commission as well as the Illinois experience.
That way, they will learn first hand the challenges they face. It will also give them a real clue as to how profitable it is. That should eventually lead them to a reasonable tax revenue proposal from online casino gaming.
Unless they have resaonable expectations, they might be tempted to propose an excessive tax rate. Hopefully they will learn from France’s too high tax rate and not minimize the potential for maximum tax revenue.
I just hope that the states don’t consider casino online gaming as being competition for their money and try to shut off everyone else. Which is exactly what Kentucky is up to. That would actually be no surprise.
Weren’t there some land based casinos in Nevada originally against online gaming too! If supposedly market savvy private enterprise acted so stupidly, could you really blame state governments to ‘think’ likewise?
