InactiveIt is not a good idea to offer a phone number in connection with sports betting. Sports betting over the phone lines is illegal without a doubt.

InactiveIt’s what drew the attention though.
Then he went and met in person, setting up bets.
That cinched it.
It goes way beyond the free speech laws advertisers usually have working for them.
I do worry about poker affiliates who recruit players on land, and especially in colleges and schools. I do expect problems there.

InactiveThere’s more to the story than just placing an ad on a website for gambling.
BTW, he should hire a better lawyer next time. Everyone knows federal law supersedes state law. The state does not need a law “on the books”, if there is a federal law.

InactiveHe did time because he was in posession of cocaine. Anyone in the USA knows that Jail time is mandatory when drug posession is involved. That is what clinched it for him. Online Gaming was merely an apertif.
