InactiveI’m not sure I love their food. Their restaurants are the worst in my country although there are real chinese cooks. But I’m not sure about restaurants in Chine. I heared they were very good.

GuestGeneral guidlines for diet (from someone who needs to follow them more often)
anything that tastes good …… don’t eat it.
anything that tastes bad …. and doesn’t have meat in it ….. probably okay.
adding sauces of any kind : bad.
enjoy your salad with vinegar for dressing

InactiveI probably don’t eat the healthiest since my diet sometimes consists of a lot of pizza or pasta.
What I do which helps is stay away from soda drinks and deserts. Those are by far the worse and are loaded with sugar. I also drink healthy, plenty of water, tea, and pure vegetable juice.
I also stay away from white bread. That stuff is bleached and has lost any nutritional value. A person adapts a taste to pure whole wheat bread. Whenever I have to go back to white bread I cant help but feel that it’s tasteless.

that happened to me with milk. we drink non-fat here, and whenever i mistakenly get regular milk somewhere, i swear it tastes like someone added butter to it.

InactiveYou mean you guys are still earning enough to buy food?
Seriously, I changed my eating habits about six years back and now after a couple of days eating bad foods (usually when I travel) I get the equivalent of a hangover. Not quite as bad as the alcohol induced ones but enough to make me feel real sluggish and unmotivated to do anything.

InactiveHow about just eating HALF the Chinese that you were planning too?
Nothing wrong with a professionally prepared meal (say) once per week – but no matter what style of food you choose it will be loaded with yummy tasty calouries.
sigh.gifAll take-out or restaurant food is high in calories and deemed fattening, it’s called professional cooking and it’s why it tastes so damn good.
:stirpot:Home cooked meals are usually better for you, simply because you’re not going to spend all the time working in the butter and oils, and creating special sauces …

try being a (half-assed) vegetarian (I still ate fish and the occasional baked chicken or turkey) … for a …..lets see … i think I lasted about 2 years.
when I finally gave it up … (eating more and more chicken, fish and turkey) …. and went for that long over-due cheeseburger …..
sick as a dog. The grease did me in.
of course … that was 2 life-time’s ago … when I weighed about 50 pounds less and the only wrinkles ……. well they weren’t where you’d not want them

vladcizsolMemberChinese take away is an inalienable right of the working class. (It’s also cheap, a major consideration these days)
We do cook dinner (Me 90% of the time Mrs Professor the remainder), but during the day it’s far more convenient to order the $4.39 lunch special at Bamboo Wok and eat while I am in front of the computer.
It’s just damned disapointing to find out the stir fry dishes that are loaded with Veggies are just as fatting as a frigging Big Mac and fries. I had felt that eating Chinese was a healthier alternative to the Burgers.

InactiveI kinda knew Chinese was loaded with calories, but have been trying to pretend otherwise, because I love it so much (but not as much as thai).
Glad I am not the only one who suffers after binging on junk food! Sometimes you just got to treat yourself to a bit of grease though, but it really does leave me feeling tired and queasy.
I went on a ‘detox’ at the beginning of the year which meant cutting out all dairy from my diet….when I finished the detox I found I could no longer tolerate it, so no more milk or cheese for me! I love cheese!!!
The moral of the story – don’t detox!
