    hi
I was just wondering if any of you guys have had success with offline advertising to promote casinos?
I was thinking of place some ads in local papers.

    Anyone got any tips?
    Cheers

‘I was thinking of place some ads in local papers.’

This might being down some heat on yourself.

I’ve tried advertising in Gambling Online Magazine and that was a big waste of money.

wow, that was a quick reply ;)

As for the legality of it all, that is my major concern at the moment so will obviously look in to it further (living in the UK I guess we have diferent laws)

Thanks for the tip about ‘Online Gambling Magazine’ I will be sure to stay away from it :)

I assumed you were in North America, so it’s probably a lot safer for you in the UK. I remember reading that in the UK it’s legal to advertise internet gambling if someone is looking up information related to it. But i think the area was a bit more in the grey if you were just doing advertising and the ad wasn’t looked up.

I might be wrong on this, someone please correct me.

From what I have seen, the British can justifiable claim

to be the free when it comes to online gambling and advertising.

I’ve never seen any casino advertising in local papers, but it might be worth a try. Advertising online casinos is fully legal over here in the UK – CasinoOnNet have massive billboard ads on the tube and various other places. The tube (underground/metro) is ultimately owned by the British government, so if there was any legal grey area with this, they’d have been stopped by now.

I’m currently running an ad with the local free weekly paper for PartyPoker. I’ve seen several fun players but no real players yet. I got an excellent price on the ad because a friend of mine works in their classifieds department. I’m not sure I will see an ROI on this, but maybe. If I were paying full price for the ad, probably not.

Miscellaneous Services is the category inside the classifieds.

The weekly paper here has a section called the backpage where my ad is running too.

from my experience so far, online advertising has definite

advantages over offline since buyers are just a click away …

years ago a company spent a small fortune on billboards

and that casino is now closed.

I’ve had some luck enclosing business cards in books on gambling in bookstores. That’s an old guerilla marketing trick right there–you just put the business card somewhere in the book.

I think the staff at the bookstore might frown on that if they catch you though. But I’ve seen some players from it.

You could always try stripping naked, writing in big bold letters on your back, front, and forehead, your domain name, and then run accross some live event on national TV. It works!
