Namibiya69MemberNo, I’m fairly sure it means that rooms like InterPoker cannot advertise in the media in the UK because they do not meet the UK’s standards for gambling. So you are fine to promote them on your site.

InactiveNo, you are not fine…
The original DCMS is linked to below. And contains this paragraph:
“The ban will apply to all forms of gambling advertising from excluded jurisdictions including TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, taxis, buses, the tube and some websites. If operators, publishers, broadcasters and advertising companies break the rules, they could face fines or even imprisonment.
“Some websites?” Don’t know what thet means…My editor has tried to contact the press office to get confirmation but they said wait until today’s Parliament session.
Big sites based in NV are: Jackpotjoy, Intercasino, Betfred and Littlewoods Casino. I think we can assume that these guys will move soon seeming as NV has had a ‘NO’ from the DCMS.

InactiveYou need to be based in the UK, EU or the other jurisdictions mentioned. If not you better start implementing a GEO IP ban or your next trip to the UK or EU could hold an unpleasant surprise.

I received this email today:
“You may have seen an article on the newswires this morning in regards to the banning of several online gaming sites from advertising on TV in the UK from 1st September. Dependent on where you saw the article one of the banned sites mentioned was InterPoker part of the InterCasino Group.
Please do not panic, although the ban will come into force as of September 1st it does not affect InterPoker or any of our brands. We are days away from receiving our Maltese license which is on the whitelist and also part of the EU. Our servers have also arrived in Malta and are currently being configured. To re assure you our first TV ad will be shown on September 1st.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours Sincerely,
PartnerLogic Team”

Guestwhat are thoughts this is based on ability to get taxes rather than concern for the player?
just curious the thoughts of my peers.
I’ve always thought intercasino/poker … were already advertising in UK on a large basis. and it so seems if that was wrong .. it won’t be soon.
what’s the difference where they’re located? I’m guessing in one instance its taxable income and the other … not.

aaronsmithMemberI think this will not prevent any of the online casinos they are all moving to be within the guide lines I am just making sure that all the casinos I have an affiliate account with are doing so. Keep a look out for emails from your sites talking about this and post this here for us all.
Keep up the fight!

They want to make sure UK/EU regulatory standards are being applied and want to keep the taxes in the UK/EU pots for the future.

I can’t see how they can ban advertising online in the UK while avoiding the anti-censorship laws.
The internet is an international entity so im pretty sure no solely online published will be brought to question for having an intercasino banner on their site.August 10, 2007 at 3:21 pm #745255Anonymous
InactiveOk, if you read it as I did, they would ban advertising on TV, Radio and heres the catch, websites that are EU controlled media such as EU news sites, tv websites and such. I do not see this as a ban on non EU webmasters.

This is a good business with good people but the govs of these countries do not understand.

It is forced upon them the same way you cannot advertise porn on TV before 12am (or at all). And I don’t think they will go after the online advertisements, just TV, radio and club-sponsorship
