Ok before i rant on this thread i will remind peeps that i do not currently promote this program. I dont have a converting site yet which i hope i will soon! but what i do have is alot of common sense. This is complete B.S for this company to ban Canadian players. They are pulling players out of your hands for nothing. Here in Canada we can gamble all we want online there is no current laws forbidding you to, and to my knowledge isnt going to be any laws on that. The decision to pull out of Canada is annoying to my brain. I dont understand this at all. I am assuming the Canadian market isnt as big as europe or usa but still why do this. Another thing is it says there after the warnings and as of Feb 20 something that the accounts will be frozen and funds unretrievable. This is essentially theft, a practice that is frowned upon in the industry from what i assume. You can correct me if i am wrong, i will not take offense. I will not promote this program if they go forward with this in Feb. I am very interested in hearing thoughts of some of you affiliates view on this.

(edit) The fact that you will not be paid of your Canadian players for the 28 days left from Feb 1st is insane and in my eyes theft. If some players have a bit of cash laying around on there and go wager crazy you will not get paid for this…..

Well any new Rivals can forget working with us , they just lost the edge they had on rtg -seems they are the only ones to take canadian and usa players now.

    Unbelievable!

    What next i say!!!!

Anyone have a clue on what there reasoning is behind this stupid move???

I received the same email from some rival casino aff. [ can’t remember which one! lol ] but they gave players until March 1st to get thier money out, so looks like the same deal that micro did, each casino has there own end date.

i am getting so fed up with this industry, i really don’t see what the problem is with canadian players>>> some one clue me in!!!!

Sometimes they will nto take players from her if their servers are here or key business operations are here.In Canada ,we can gamble and pay no taxes on winnings.Microgaming is the best casinos to promote in Canada.Too bad for us who sent many players from Canada to Rival casinos.

The move is no stupid than Microgaming pulling out of the US market. They had their reasons and Rival have theirs for pulling out of the Canadian market. Of course Rival and the operators want to be in all markets but I think this is what their lawyers advised and it’s a similar situation that bodog had in terms of accepting US players but not taking Canadian. No players are being stolen here, those accounts for real money will have to be closed so were not pulling a Grand Prive.

After this I wish I could tell you everything but I don’t have much more information myself. I doubt I’ll have any more statements on this, being Canadian myself I’d like to still take Canadians but these are the cards we are dealt. This shouldn’t have a big effect since we didn’t have as many Canadian players and no CAD currency. I was hoping in the near future we would have the Canadian dollar but this is what I have to live with for now.

I am in London so won’t be checking the boards as much. Nice to see all the people here though :)

    Sloto’Cash also…

    Quote:
    Dear Affiliates,

Unfotunately as from 1st February 2009 all Rival powered casinos will no longer accept residents of Canada.

The decision was made by our Software Provider “Rival Powered Gaming” due to pressure from their Canadian suppliers to cease accepting Canadian residents .

On a more positive note, Sloto’Cash is now available in 8 languages, Dutch, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Japanese and Greek and we are currently in the process of adding banners for the various languages. If you have any special requests please do not hesitate to contact me.

I am currently at ICE / CAP London so if any of you would like to meet up for a drink and chat please contact me on the details below.

    All the best

While it’s not illegal for Canadians to gamble online, it is illegal to operate a casino without a license. For operators that are based in Canada, that means they could face felony charges for running an illegal “gaming house”. While it’s harder to get indicted than in the US, since the crown attorney needs a police complaint and the police a public complaint to investigate, it’s still something i’m sure they don’t want to face.

I didnt realise Rival casinos has such close ties to canada.I know you live here but assumed some of them were offshore with their owners lol.I think the timing with the lawsuit and to pull out may be connected.Just more work for us as we have some sites that have very high canadian traffic and Rival casinos have alot of coverage.I may have no choice but work with playtech hahaha

Can the Rival managers please comment on this.

This would be totally unacceptable .

I’m in London at the conferences and don’t have as much time to keep up w/ the forums so if you have question you can always email me. To answer quickly we are not ripping anybody off. We don’t have that many Canadian players to begin with as well so most affiliates won’t see any difference so stealing would just be a horrendous business decision but were not Grand Prive. I’m off to meetings all day but I still check emails a few times per day. My inbox is flooded but I do my best to clear it asap.

Makes sense if they are in Canada. I would do the same if i felt things might get complicated with the law.
