my simple advice to noobs is this:
1- be patient.
2- be good (no blackhat/spam)
3- participate in relevant forums, and build up a reputation as someone who cares about their players.
4- of course read up on seo etc.
5- launch a properly optmised site. hire a designer and a developer who know what they are doing. instruct the developer how you want the html to be seo’d.
6- remember content is king – without good content ur site is sh1t.
7- don’t pretend to the #1 authority site for poker/slots/ whatever. you are a newbie – wait until you have a good userbase and masses of traffic and useful content before making daft claims
8- have fun – ! you will learn a lot, make a lot of new friends and of course you will set yourself up for life if you do everything correctly.
