I am no expert, but I find there are many people who throw up a website thinking it is an easy way to riches. This is very much like people who read gambling books thinking they can read a book and lay back and make an easy million bucks. What they find to their horror is that to become a winning poker player is very hard work, or the book was written by some huckster selling a dream.
But to answer your question, the best way is to have dozens of pages of quality content. I assume you play poker, so this means pages that you would actually read and find interesting and helpful.
You will find pages of content that look like this
Winning poker players play poker at our best poker sites with poker bonuses and winning poker strategies while winning doyle brunson win at poker online bonus poker.
That stuff won’t fool google and will turn off your readers. Just work on content that you would like to find if you were searching the internet.

My question is for a brand new site, – how to promote and advertise without spending a lot of money.

What I do is I hand out my magnets out to everyone I see at Foxwoods and the Mohegan Sun Casino lol I need a dump truck full of them heavy magnets

TommyHere’s the problem. People think you can start up a business (website) and make money without having to spend any. Well, some people may do that, but most sites with no financial backing have no chance.
Unless you are a internet marketing guru, then you need to plan on spending some money. If you were an internet marketing guru, you’d probably have money to spend.
I totally disagree. There is hosting, and there is name registration, but after that.. I haven’t really ever spent a dime. There is a chance for anyone out there to build a successful website, as long as they realize its work, and alot of long hours, before anyone even knows they have a website. Then once people do find you, there’s no guarentee you’re going to get a bunch of depositors.
But I think this thread has been less then helpful so far, he asked for ideas, he got jokes, and get out of our busniess type replies.
I find that creating a lot of content (quality) is the best way to traffic. I do not have a ton of traffic to any of my sites, but I know that it all comes from the uniqueness of my content.
Also, study HARD SEO. This will help you gain top spots.
Use Word Tracker, Nichebot, or Good Keywords to find keywords that you feel are worth competing for. Do NOT try for ‘Online Casinos’ or something that everyone is trying for. It takes a long time to get the heavy hitting keywords.
That’s all the advice I have.
