Right then … since some of your think it’s reasonable.

If any of you affiliates try to use words like :

    GUIDE (as in GoonersGuide)
    BOOKIE (as in BookieLabrat)
    POKER (as in PokerLabRat)
    CASINO (as in CasinoLabRat)

to discuss any or all aspects of gambling then I’m gonna sue your arses off too !!
    I was here first !!

    Sheessh !! Gimme a break !!
They cannot and have no right to (TM) the words Net or Teller.
IMO – they’re far too generic terms for financial markets …
    :notify:

But once again it is a question of size – they’re trying to squash the competiton before it starts.

    goony,

i beg to disagree (although i still owe you swiss account…pm me 4 dat one), the fact of the matter is that neteller was/is a completely built e-wallet solution. youteller is a copycat and you and me know that….that’s that and neteller can abuse the frikin ass out of youteller for being a teller…know what i mean?

on the other hand, you can buy:

    http://www.guideteller.com :notify:
    http://www.bookieteller.com sneaky2.gi
    http://www.pokerteller.com oops…too late :fencing:
http://www.casinoteller.com … bummer, must be you mate

Although on the face of it, the trademark might be hard to protect, you can see Neteller’s POV here. Neteller’s brand recognition is clearly a benefit to Youteller – hell I even thought they might be connected when I first saw the Youteller name.

Agreed. They are IMO garnering publicity off the back of Neteller’s name. Neteller have a good point here.

I think almost all have to agree that youteller name was chosen because of neteller existence and recognition. Youteller is trying to capitalize from the name of other company. I don’t know what will happen, but we have to admit that there is an abuse already in place. Most people here believed Youteller was formed by Neteller, and that says a lot.

I recognize that teller is a generic name, but using teller in the name of 2 companies that are e-wallets and do the same, that’s a different matter.

For us, users of e-wallets, I would not give much trust to a companies that tries to copy and to confuse itself to another company instead of using its own idea.

    Look they’re similar I agree …

But we are not talking about something called GETeller or BETeller (both good names by the way … which gets me to thinking … no that’s a different thread … ;) ) but here is an outfit called YOUTeller.

I can tell them apart – they don’t sound the same to me.

It’s like saying that Coca Cola can now go and stop Pepsi Cola or Muslim Cola or Cheap Cola … they can’t.

Neteller chose the “teller” suffix for their brand to be synonomous with banking – that’s fine – but I don’t think that they can take a word out of the English language now – particularly out of the finance industry.

But perhaps I’m just talking common-sense .. and we all know that has nothing to do with legal arguments … so I wait on the slidelines to listen to the legal rulings …

they should use betterteller.com or better-tell-her.com, why didn’t PayPal sue Payspark they use the word pay too. This reminds me of a kid called Mike Rowe that registered Microwesoft.com

Use of those terms would cause no confusion between the new site and yours. You have to consider a new site such as GoonersGuides, or PokerLabRats which sets up offering the exact same service as you in a similar manner. Maybe someone goes out and gets GoonersGuide.info and targets every keyword; those examlpes could very well cause confusion assuming of course that your names, which came first were ‘established’.

And then how is your take different when you consider NETeller and YOUTeller ?? You say (somewhere on page one I think) that you consider the services are similar and the names are similar – and so they have a case.

The words Net and Teller are in common usage. I don’t think that they can remove them from public domain.

To illustrate my point … I translate that directly to my example (where I toungue in cheek try to claim all usage of Guide, Gooner, Poker, Casino, Bookie, Lab and Rat) which says the exactly same thing.

I agree that I’ve got ZERO chance … but I think that Neteller also have ZERO chance despite all their bluster …

Yeah, and I got “paper”…and “o” and “g”, so Gooner, you have to pay me for using “g” and “o” :whipper”

Lets not forget that neteller.com is: NET+eller, or NE+Teller – does not make much sense, yeah?

    Where youteller.com is: YOU+Teller…

Now, type netteller.com in your borwser, and there is the real deal :)

Neteller are just holding on to a straw right now, they are about to shut down the shop, all this is just them trying to put off the inevitable…

    Hi all,

frankly I consider NETeller’s rep to be in the toliet. why would any place want to be even remotely related to such a place is beyond my thinking.

a big mistake in my opinion. Neteller has proven to freeze funds … be questionable in many instances …. why start out with such a negative basis?

my biggest concern about you teller has been the near association it may have something to do with neteller.

Personally I think the bad outweighs the good on many levels.
