    Hi all,

thanks so much for the help. I’ve been busy trying to figure out where I’ve got paid ads so I can go shut them off.

and between that and contacting the hosting company, (which I will say has been pretty good at answering my emails)

    I’ve been busy.

Well you guys sure saved the day for the hosting company in my eyes, because he kept telling me the site was up and I still have not been able to see it; so for all I knew, I was getting a run around. This has been going on now for almost a day, (or it seems that long anyway) and I’ve never had a site down for this long at any one time, so I am getting very nervous; and frankly was getting ready to get hosting at one of the places I have the majority of sites hosted at; when I decided to check back in here … and well at least now I know the site has been up for short periods of time, which makes me believe they are trying to get it fixed.

what a pain. I’ve got paid ads at a bunch of smalller places that even if I could remember which ones have active accounts, it would take until this time tomorrow to go around and shut them down.

I suppose I need to get one of those PPC managing softwares, which I imagine would allow me to shut off the ads all with one click.

    that’s worth $40 or $50 by itself …. I’m learning :).

    Hi all,

    curiouser and curiouser.

well I’m glad to hear somebody can see the site.

    I can’t.

here’s what i received from the host:

The server is up and has been for quite some time because I believe I found the culprit. But if you can’t see it, you need to do a TRACERT at http://www.dnsstuff.com to see where your connection is being lost. Remember, it is possible for you and many others in your geographic location to not be able to see a web site while others can. That tracert tells you approx where the hang up is.

This server was definitely up and down the last 48 hours, but try and trace it if you still can’t see it and let me know what you show because it has been running quite well for many hours now.

    Greg Hughes

    Teknon Media

I tried that; but not understanding what it is that I’m seeing (big surprise)

here are the last parts of the trace, which I suspect is the problem since it says Router did not respond.

so what does that mean? is the site visible to most people?

Is this in any way a problem with the hosting?

if I have the site hosted somewhere else, will it still have so much trouble getting seen?

    Oh ya, and

    [Reached Destination]best-buys-guide.com. 0 miles [+0] 52 US Unix: 2:13:47.206

where does this best-buys-guide.com figure into the picture?

thanks again everyone for the input

    Hi Bb1 –

Your problem is that either you

    A. Checked your email using a program like outlook too quickly more then one time…

    B. Did some type of query or page parsing on your site too fast or ftp or pinging

In other words, I can bet that your IP address was blocked from your entire web host including your site, and anyone elses on the smae servers.

    The reason I know this…

It has happened to me about 5-6 times….

and the first 3 times or so I was sooooo angry and frustrated for 2-3 days I could not check my email, load my site or anything and the entire time I would be thinking that nobody else could either when in realty it was only myself that was seeing the errors and everything was really operating just fine…..

Finally after learning that the web hosts firewall software was on the mode that makes it very very sensitive come the 4th, 5th and 6th time a quick call or urgent email telling them mY IP address had been blocked again cleared the problem up immediately as the support rep. just had to remove my IP address from the block list..

Need your IP address go to http://www.whatsmyip.com

    Hope this helps!
