So what does $ 0 for 108 downloads sound like then?

Bear in mind that the programs don´t have a seperate column for aborted downloads. Quite convenient for them though as they´ll always say that the majority of the download figure was aborted downloads if you complain:wink-wink

You need to look at a few things:

    (a) primarily a larger sample of numbers. for instance, what did you make off the last 1,000 downloads? … how many players, how much revenue?

    (b) if you just started with a program, give it a moment to convert. sometimes the programs do emailings to your players who haven’t deposited yet and they don’t start putting in shells for a month sometimes…

    (c) definetly talk to the affiliate manager. sometimes they can offer your players bigger bonuses and pay more attention to converting them for you to keep you happy

    (d) compare to the other programs you promote. if it don’t add up, switch ’em out.

sometimes its a painful process and you have to scratch your head and wonder A LOT. give them more than 100 downloads before you make your decision.

You can’t really tell anything from a few hundred downloads.

You need several months and at least 1000 real and voluntary (not auto) downloads to be able to judge.

Nothing is fast in this business, many players deposit months after they signed up, like Bernie says, because of mailings.

I often send more real downloads than that and see no results from them. It depends also on what exactly I am promoting about the casino and whether the players see it right there when they land.

Using appropriate landing pages can help a whole lot.

Lots of times players download and play for free for a while before depositing money. For example, my own son played at full tilt poker for a couple months for free before he decided to try to take the plunge with real money.

I earned $14,000 with the Grilled Cheese guys in August and I know a lot of other affiliates who earn far more with them. As has been stated, it takes time to develop a depositing player base. Once you have that the money will come.

I think what leads to frustration for affiliates is that they monitor stats in terms of banner displays/click thru/registrations. While these are indicators of whats going on Rev Share affiliates are not compensated based on those variables. We are compensated based on profits generated by depositing players.

You can have 5000 downloads and not earn a cent or conversely you can have one download and earn $40,000 (I have had single whales who have produced that sort of revenue) the key is to send quality traffic to the casinos and then eventually you will snare a few good fish and start earning money (this can take months).

Just a question, but how did those downloads come? Once I have made a mistake when creating a regular link to casino, use a download URL, instead of sending them to a jump page …

So as result I have seen quite a few downloads and nothing for it … got me searching, until I have found that it was my fault. People wanted to see first and I forced them to download software, imagine yourself in their place …

    Just my $0.02

I think Dominique and the Professor really sum it up and there isnt much to add – quality of traffic and good landing pages is what its all about.

I just want to pick up on a point made by Dominique, specifically that there are “autodownloads” which skew the stats. this could be through your specific sources of traffic.

Check your referral logs and see where the traffic is coming from; you could be buying bad traffic.

I also have made a ton from the grilled cheese guys but only because I have built up a long term player base and every now and again a whale comes and skews the stats up. The longer you fish…

i have my download links set to only initiat manually…. but then i wonder are searchengines capable of activating the link? I think so. Not sure though

there are a lot of crawlers out there on the net that might trigger autodownloads.

I have had bad traffic experiences where I bought from dodgy second tier se and then got 100s of downloads but no rmps, hence the warning.

I wouldnt put it past them – or their search engine results resellers – to use autocrawlers to effect downloads to skew the stats so conversions look better

Also some crawlers are just plain dumb and follow every link…

Can you not at least keep google et al from following with rel=”nofollow”. Not talking about malicious bots here.

After reading the Professors post I am inspired to continue to break into the big time. 14k is cool with me … but $50.00 really pisses me off and validates what I think is true… The king daddy’s get treated right … the small fries have a mountain to climb.

Here’s an example (I’ve practically got over this ?)

Everybody’s buddy at CAP….. an un-named …. a real popular program (not the cheese guys) registered 153 downloads in 3 days for me…$30.00 of revenue. He also registered 711 failed downloads during the same 3 days. It was a cute number (711) considering I was running a Craps promotion and bitching very loudly.

These stats were proven to be total bullshit … PROVEN ! so I told him to kiss my ass and haven’t done business with him since.

Do you know how much it bothered him … ? It didn’t …because he’s got guys like the Professor that brings it to him every month. Do you think he would have registered 711 failed downloads for the Professor and pay him $30.00 …? I don’t.

The Professor is a straight up guy but if there were less guys like him and more guys like me … the mountain would be easier to climb…

If you were feeling kind of sorry for me Professor I can give you my Neteller account number and ease your heavy load…

    Let it be known …

I’m not anti Professor. If there is anyone who could be considered more of an advocate for affiliates let him step forward.

The Professor is a stand up guy who has continually tolerated my scathing rants and intervened on my behalf more than once….

I can recall a check for an unexpected $1,300.00 plus dollars that wouldn’t have landed in my pocket without his help. Don’t for a minute think I’m being critical of him. My bitch is about the playing field … not the Professors success.

Damn if I only had that $14,000 …. I could pay for my kidney transplant and be able to live for another 6 months …Professor….???
