InactiveThanks again, fellas…
It’s very nice to see and feel such genuine concern from you all…
…and Nate, welcome to CAP!
You’re just finding all sorts of new & exciting things! Remember Saturday night when we were sitting at the Border Grill drinking, and I was telling those bizzare stories? Well, here’s one I’ll add to that list! 😎October 7, 2004 at 7:11 pm #655806Anonymous
InactiveI’m speechless. Well, just what is the online equivalent of speechless? Type-less?
Man oh man, what a terrible and scary way to end a Vegas trip.
Kudos to you J Todd, and I wish you a quick recovery. It was a pleasure meeting you this trip.

InactiveProfessor,
Last time Brian was in Montreal, he was attacked by someone on while walking on the street with his wife. Thank God, he wasn’t badly injured.
I think he only broke his glasses and had a few scratches.

InactiveThat was some story! Happy that you made it home alive

Sometimes I just wish some looser would come and try something on me, but they never seem to happen
. I would then send them to the ER…. trained martial arts for some time. not any more though.Take care

InactiveSomeone attacked Brain in Montreal? Damn… it’s everywhere i guess…
Someone… I don’t recall who… was also mugged in Amsterdam. I think Garth remembers who it was.
I, too, am a trained martial artist. Black belt in Taekwon Do. Once it was 1-on-1, kicking this guys ass would have been no problem… even bleeding. But I could hear the sirens coming, and he kept reaching into his pants like he had a pistol.
When I had him choked on the ground I seriously considered pounding him… At that point he was as helpless as I had been before. But having worked with cops for years, I know they would not see this as the serious assault it was if he was beat-up & bloodied at my hand.
Reluctantly, I just held on….
…although I squeezed the living shit out of him so tight he almost passed out!

InactiveWow J Todd,
Sorry to hear about that happening to you..October 7, 2004 at 9:08 pm #655818Anonymous
InactiveOMG..this is truly shocking. It was great seeing you again and I’m really sorry that something like this happened to you…what a way terrible way to end your trip.
You certainly were fortunate to have God on your side that night.
Take it easy and get well soon. Looking forward to seeing you again!

InactiveJ Todd – Your story absolutely sickend me… I have been in a similiar situation before and it is a truly horrifying experience regardless of who wins the fight.
Kudos for standing up for yourself and then showing restraint when you could have done some serious damage to this scumbag.
My view of Vegas is somewhat tainted now even though I enjoyed myself at the convention. Would have been nice to have met you, but you seemed pretty busy everytime I was in your vicintity. Maybe next time!
Again, thanks for doing the right thing when no one else would.

InactiveBrian was attacked in Toronto two years ago presumably because they wanted the sandwiches he just bought

InactiveHoly Cow!
I am so glad you had a chance to call the cops.
I hope you feel better and your face looks human again.
The world isn’t such a safe place. They run a pretty tight ship in Vegas because they don’t want tourists to stop coming – I am surprised this happened and wonder what you really stumbled into there.
You were so lucky – with that weapon you could have been killed.

GuestWhoa man. That is intense. Sorry to hear about this, but you are one hell of a storyteller. I just wish it wasn’t real.
Hope you feel better soon.October 8, 2004 at 7:09 pm #655850Anonymous
InactiveHey J Todd,
Glad to hear you are okay. It really seems a miracle that you were still standing after being hit with that cinder block! Somebody up there likes ya! That being said, it took a lot of guts to try and help while others just watched…..shame on them. God bless you

InactiveYou have all been so wonderful and kind…

So please, no one wonder why I have such a good attitude about this event. Time will heal all wounds, but good friends — like the ones I have here and across this industry — is what keeps us going in the right direction!
======================================
Here are some pics I took this morning.
The swelling is mostly gone… mostly.
So this is what I look like four days after the “incident”… :p

Not as bad as you thought it would be, eh??? LOL!
Well… thank the Good Lord for that…
