vladcizsolMemberI certainly hope Canadians arent as stupid as the uneducated and unwashed mass of Americans who elected our current regime.
Has there been a boom in trailer parks up there? Are your am radio airwaves over run by radical right wing mouth breathers too?
Please say it aint so! Many of us Americans who have been gutting it out down here have always held Canada in the back of our minds as a civilized refuge we could escape to if things continued to deteriorate down here.
Now where would we go in a pinch?
For the love of Tim Horton’s please stop the madness!

If the Conservatives (a.k.a. Republicans North / a.k.a. Bush Lovers) win this election, then not only are Canadians as stupid, we’re a magnitude dumber, having not learned a damn thing from our own past experiences nor the experiences of our southern neighbors.
The campaigns being run by the major parties are fear campaigns. It’s both disgusting and effective.

InactiveI’m Canadian and the conservatives scare since they so closely resemble the republicans. The conservatives are just as prowar and anti environment as our southern right wingers. I live in a province that is run by conservatives and the government bends over for any corporate request.
Yes the current Liberals are full of fraud and hide billions in tax dollars (there is no logical reason why our taxes would be so high) and I hate this group, but at least they are not corporate puppets like the conservatives. There’s actually 2 other groups that people can elect but unfortunately people only seem to elect those with the largest marketing budgets.
Unfortunately it looks like the conservatives will win. The main problem that I see with Canada is that we are not a true democracy. For example last election the green party received over 4% of all votes but had zero seats and zero federal representation. If it was a true democracy they would have 4% of the seats.

InactiveBeing a proud Canadian, I don’t care for anyone running for Prime Minister. It looks likes so far, the Conservatives are going to win a minority Government.
What was it again? The Liberals a few years back decided to introduce a new gun regisrty. Intial price tag around 1-2 million current price tag 2 Billion.
The politics in this country is crazy!! greek39

InactiveWell we did it, Conservatives won. On a good note for Americans, now you’ll have even less opposition if you decide to go to war with Iran, or any other oil state.

InactiveThe only good thing to come of this is the opposition is larger than the governing party.
They’ll have a hell of a time pulling any stunts.
Man, I can’t believe it…
Oh well, election again in 2 years or sooner, since it’s a minority government.

InactiveAt least we’ll have a supposed 2% consumer tax cut. Oh wait this is the same group that gave us a deficit in the first place… which means income tax will have to go up to cover it once they leave.

InactiveWhat about the NDP, nobody ever mentions the NDP, what are they, like the Ross Perot’s of Canada

InactiveSurprised to see a bunch of Canadians in here.
First of all, I don’t care how others vote, but if the Liberals were re-elected, we would be the dumbest group of people alive. The fact that they stole +$100million from us, and we won’t get a cent back.
Not a fan of Harper, but I support the conservatives.

InactiveNo, The NDP are not the Ross Perot’s of Canada.
Canada’s political system is quite different from that of the United States. Canada has, basically, a three party system. The Democrats to the right, the Liberals in the middle, and the NDP to the left. The NDP are a great opposition, and have a very interesting history.
The Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), which later merged with the Canadian labour movement to become the New Democratic Party (NDP), was responsible for Canada bringing in Universal Health care across the nation.
Tommy Douglas of the CCF, the Premiere of Saskatchewan, was the first to bring health care to Canadians.
Eventual adoption of nationwide health care coverage in 1966 was the result of CCF pressure and rising public demand, coupled with increased Liberal concerns that rising CCF-NDP support would undermine their voter base.
Although the NDP will probably never actually win a federal election, provinces often elect NDP governments.

InactiveThough never again will Ontario elect an NDP premier, Rae screwed it up big time.

InactiveI cannot in good conscience vote for the liberals, they are crooks. I also cannot vote for conservatives. Conservatives have a history of being against womens rights, destroying the environment, and being prowar.
I voted for green party, and would otherwise vote for NDP.
