InactiveFor those interested, here are my results, comparing iasbet and ladbrokes
iasbet
paid 108-1 on my exacta bet
paid $48.55 on a $2 win/place bet on the winner
customer service was really fast and cool
my winnings are already in my neteller accountladbrokes
paid 80-1 on my exacta bet
paid $44 on a $2 win/place bet on the winner
still waiting for customer service to respond
my winnings are who knows whereiasbet gets a thumbs up and goes right to spot #1 on my horse racing site under international betting section
ladbrokes gets a huge warning as a scam op on my site, they totally stiffed me on the payout for the race, i will get whatever money i can out of there and not recommend them to anyone
iasbet i will continue to use, ladbrokes gets the big boot, comparing these 2 books was like night and day, totally unexpected, once again, let me make this clear, Ladbrokes is a piece of crap operation, you’ve been warned

Inactive24 entrants and one scratching leaves 23 to race.
Of the $5m only $3.75m went to Japan with the rest spread between Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Great Britain. It is an international race so I don’t know why you think it is funny that two Japanese horses took the top spots.

InactiveThat’s one of the things I miss the most about living in the US.
We used to have little pools with horse-drawings and stop everything to listen to the radio while the race was on…

Why i think it’s funny that the Japs took $3.9 million of the $5 million purse
Well, Australia puts up a $5 million purse to lure some of the best horses, and those horses that come from Europe have to fly 30+ hours, adjust to the upside down hemisphere, and they almost always fail because of this, as a result it appears that the Aussie horses are good, a fact which i had always doubted, and now the Japs who have to travel much less distance, show up with a couple decent horses, not their best, and just dominate the race
This is what was funny to me, is that i was in the small minority, according to the odds, to know this fact, for a $5 million race i would expect a much classier field, and a proper set of guidelines to enter, many of those Aussie horses had no business being in this race, they just polluted the field
When i looked at the form, Delta Blues was the only real Class 1 horse in the race out of the 23 runners, and i was laughing to the bank with the 20-1 odds the Aussies were so generously giving out on him to win
And just for the record, i thought your comment was funny about the remaining $1 million and change being divided up by Aus, NZ, GB, Ire, that works out to about $250k each, and app $4 million going to the Japs…now you know the locals and Brits are just sick about that, i think that was the part that was funniest of all, perhaps in the future the Japs will be barred from competing to make sure the money stays in the familia

InactiveFor some-one who appears to know their numbers, $3.75m is not $3.9m.
As the naming rights sponsor was Emirates I doubt that too much of the prize money was local money.
And without getting into semantics, Makybe Diva, the winner in 2003, 2004 and 2005 is actually a British horse.
Why am I even bothering to reply here? Perhaps it’s a momentary lapse of memory because I forgot you are always right and the rest of the world is always against you (and wrong).

InactiveYeah Nina, any event that gives us a public holiday here in Melbourne has to be a good thing. I’ve had a ball when I’ve gone and there is usually more action and things to look at off the track, if you know what I mean. It is a great day to be single…

InactiveJames, I was talking about all that happening 3,000 miles from you up in Darwin

Melbourne Cup Day is when lots of people take a day off all over the country.
I’ve never been able to actually make the race – but always enjoyed our time out with everyone else. I imagine it is a great time to be single, since the Cup is also traditionally a fashion parade – some of the most georgous ladies Oz has to offer :Partier:
Ignore that other guy – kind of a caustic personality.
Still looking for your package.

InactiveNick I think we were comparing different numbers as I was only quoting the money (not trophies) to the owner and not the winnings the trainer, strapper etc received. What is shown on TV is nothing compared to what you see walking around.
Thanks Nina, starting to get a bit worried that it has gone missing. Will follow them up. Was in the mood for a bit of an argument and I knew Nick would bite. He probably thought the same and knew I would have a go.

Ya, i’m good to go
But when the thunder hits down under, don’t try to run for cover, i am standing atop the mountain
The Japs took you straight up, it’s my duty to point that out and rub your nose in it
If it makes you feel better, let it be $3.75 million, you can have the $1.25 million and the leftover model garb

See that’s the thing you don’t appear to understand about the Australian culture, we don’t care that Japanese horse won. We don’t need to compare and beat other countries to feel better, we already know we have a great lifestyle down here.
We’re also just glad that some overseas horses came to our great race. Now if it had been a New Zealand horse that won it might be a different case. Sorry Gooner.
