vladcizsolMemberI think there are a number of very good Playtech casinos and there are some not so good ones.
All in all I dont go along with blanket statements like ALL playtechs are bad or ALL Microgaming Casinos are good. I think its best to judge each program on its own merit.

InactiveI totally concur prof thats why Im a bit taken back by “the casinomeister”‘s half-assed (kiwi is ok) blanket statement(s).
To each his/her own I guess

InactiveCasinomeister has one of the most distinct voices on the web when it comes to online casinos. He’s opinionated and seemingly fearless about voicing his opinions. I admire that.
On the other hand, I don’t have any plans to drop Golden Palace because of this blanket statement.

InactiveI think it is mostly the licencing problems – expired licences are not a good thing for the industry. It gives ammunition to those who like to trash online gaming.
I like casinomeister both as a person and as a businessman, and he is entitled to his opinions and can blacklist anyone he likes. (or rather doesn’t like
)My guess is that this is a political move to push playtech itself into supervising it’s licencees more, as in ensuring that they have current licences. Like I said above, not having a licence is a bad thing and gives ammunition to those who would discredit the industry. I don’t think it means that Casinomeister thinks all Playtech Casinos are bad – it is not so much a statement about the casinos themselves as one about the software provider’s failure to act responsibly.
Also, some places like Black Widow and Grand Banks are ADMITTEDLY AND ON PURPOSE delaying payments to winners, sometimes for months. It is of course financially advantageous to the casinos to retain the use of these monies, but it is unfair to players.
Playtech knows this very well and does nothing to reign in the culprits.
Some software companies, such as MG, are a good watchdog over their casinos and make sure all is well. Others like Playtech and RTG are Laissez Faire.
This seems to be the gripe.

InactiveYes – I totally agree – I had made a quick review of the topic when I made my kiwi comment (#3) and now that I have reviewed further comments at his forum I would like to retract that specific comment.
It seems he has had a good relationship with Kiwi that dates back to before they moved to Playtech so hes more or less giving them what may be a temporary stay of execution. It seems that unless Playtech answers his inquiries he has vowed to regretfully remove Kiwi as well.
WOW – hadn’t heard about the ex RM sites – I now see eye to eye with both you and meister on this topic – something has to be done and now! Thats just crazy!

InactiveHe’s not specifically saying each Playtech casino is bad – rather, he’s putting up a list of PT casinos… which are on the bad list because of non-action by the software providers. He has asked questions which needed to be answered – and weren’t, despite repeated requests.
It’s a bit different from the RTG scenario, where he listed them not only because the providers would not take corrective action, but because indeed there were a number of bad apples out there.
Got2Bet actually sort of preceded him in both instances – first we refused all advertising from RTG (but now trying to pick the good apples since RTG has made some headway with rogue operators – think of it as an incentive for the provider to be a bit more active) – and we also removed all PT advertising since a couple of months ago, although of course there are still a few links floating in the reviews and in the bonus list and I don’t anticipate removing them at present since none of the operators in my opinion are bad apples.
Playtech does need to step up to the plate, though. I can also vouch for their non-responsiveness, even when a response from them would actually have been to their benefit (ie. marketing efforts).

InactiveThere are no doubt some un-responsive PT’s out there…
And there are no doubt very resposive PT operators (Casino Blasters & Casino Partners) out there…
I also respect Brian for his courage and cavalier business model, and I understand that he does so to apply pressure to certain casinos… which (as I am sure he is aware) indirectly puts pressure on webmasters as well…
Whether that’s completely fair to us or not is a two-sided coin.

GuestCasinomeister is always the first place I check when I start researching a casino’s reputation.
From reading his site and forum, I have the very strong opinion that he is not motivated by money, but by ethics and a sincere desire to make the online gambling industry safe and enjoyable.
Where would this industry be without Bryan and casinomeister.com?
July 7, 2004 at 7:40 pm #651636Anonymous
InactiveYes… you are correct Janet.
This industry is safer due in large part to Brian. Remember, though, that to whom much is given much is expected…

That said, we cannot ask anyone to be perfect… and I cannot and will not say I would do a better (or even as good of a) job as Mr. Bailey. It’s just a very delicate decision when someone of his stature makes a blanket-blacklist based in part (seemingly) on a software group.

vladcizsolMemberNo one is taking shots at Bryan. He is well respected and liked here.
We are just chatting about Playtechs in general. There are some excellent ones out there and also a few stinkers. I DO NOT agree with lumping all the casinos in the same heap as the stinkers.
There are some very good Playtech casino groups like Golden Palace and the Tropez family that provide excellent services. It’s not fair to penalize them because Club Dice let their license expire.
Kudos to Bryan for trying to have a positive effect on the industry and for fighting the good fight.
I hope he continues to pursue the rogues vigorously. But unlike Iraq I do not believe collateral damage to innocent bystanders is an acceptable sacrifice in the war on rogues. Let’s expose and ostracise the guilty while sparing those that havent done anything wrong.

InactiveI don’t think he is saying that all playtech casinos are bad.
He is merely trying to tell the software company Playtech, who is receiving lots of money from it’s licencees, that they need to clean up their casino licencing requirements.
I don’t think it has a lot to do with individual casinos, except for Club Dice which is operating without a licence, and Black Widow and Grand Banks, which are not decent to players.
Hopefully Playtech will pressure Dice into getting a licence and things will go back to normal asap.

You’re probably right, Dominique.
I understand the need to use a 2X4 to get the desired response. I would assume, maybe erroneously, that quieter efforts have been made before now.

Inactive2x4s are always last resort.
While I happen to know the Golden Palace guys very well – they still haven’t resolved a major issue – the first major “bonus abuser” cases – to my satisfaction – and thus I can’t in good faith promote them.
Having said that – they have been pretty good since then…

InactiveFor some reason,
understand the need to use a 2X4 to get the desired response. I would assume, maybe erroneously, that quieter efforts have been made before now.
Made me remember Alice’s Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie and in particular this bit (always intended to do this section in the middle of an aff conference, but not been to one yet…
). It probably made me remember because I often look at threads like this and realise how helpless/ignored afflilates really are in the whole gaming scheme of things. And I went up there, I said, “Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill, KILL, KILL.” And I started jumpin up and down yelling, “KILL, KILL,” and he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down yelling, “KILL, KILL.” And the sargent came over, pinned a medal on me, sent me down the hall, said, “You’re our boy.”
Didn’t feel too good about it.
That reminds me of the Meister.
Trying to do the right thing and turns out wrong mostly. If you want to see the whole of the lyrics you can do so here…get a coffee first…
