yes very interesting – although i find it a little brain washing and some points totally wrong (imo).

For example, they say its the corrupt and the wrong “monetary policy” that gives all goods a short shelf life because the the rich need to keep on selling the same things to us as often as poss to create more profit.

while this is true, they claim we have the technology and can quite easily build things to last alot longer, but how exactly would this create jobs and help the long term if things did last ? as this would do the opposite….. they talk of fire proof houses with perfect plumbing and washing machines able to last 15 yrs, cars that last 5 x as long etc etc etc but this would decrease the need to for jobs in home building, plumbers, car manufacturing (or any manufacturing really) etc etc

Basically if you use the strategy they say and everything was quality built and made to last there would be 10’s of millions less jobs in the world from people working in manufacturing to firemen.

(I’m rubbish at explaining, so hope that made sense to those who watched it)

darko123, exactly what i was going to post :)

Also, if things were to built to last tooo long prices would be higher and less would afford to buy them.

    Hey Simon,
Very interesting concept that would if done right could be Heaven on Earth. My Dad told me a few years ago before he past away that he had always dream of a day when this would be the way of life. Money and greed are evil in every way.

Is this ‘Part Two’ of the Zeitgeist videos?

I’ve seen the first and think that it’s a real eye opener. Some of the claims in it stretched me a little but the opening section about Religion and its origins I particularly liked.

I saw this follow-up vid but didn’t find it as satisfying – I can appreciate that manufacturers may now include ‘built-in obsolescence’ but didn’t agree with all of the conclusions they drew.

You can find the first Zeitgeist video on youtube HERE
