agree. Further is my experience … its often better to communicate via written word opposed to face to face because we have trouble understanding accents from one side of the country to another, it gets really tough once you start jumping country to country.
Curious, do you folks down under and in Europe, have as much trouble understanding us … as we do you?
Downunder, no. But you gotta rememeber that most of the tv shows played here are American.. so we’re used to the accent.
When I was in Vegas in 2006, I was in a club and asked the bartender for a water, and she had no idea what I was asking for. Asked for it a couple of times and still nothing, so I said it with an american accent and she felt really stupid for not understanding me.. LOL
I think its harder for you guys to understand our accent because you don’t hear it as often as we hear yours…
I dont have any trouble understanding European accents for the most part either, but I think that’s because i have grandparents who are european, so I’m used to that.. but I know some other Aussies who have a real hard time understanding the european accents…

Would you, as an affiliate, like it if your affiliate manager called you for random chats every now and again (to discuss business related stuff as well as every day stuff)?
I definately require notice of a phone call so that I can prepare for it or otherwise it’s mostly to go on a list to be discovered weeks later. LOL Email or MSN is fine.
If I like the brand/affiliate group then I ask the AM’s that want more exposure to send me the content/reviews/promotion along with creatives that have my code embedded/included in the URL so that all I have to do is copy/paste and move to the next task.
Income Access is my favorite for that.

That’s what I like too, when conversations of any kind are followed up like that, things get implemented quickly and easily. Otherwise they end up on a long “to do” list.

mayur2505MemberIf I haven’t met an affiliate in person before and never been in touch, it would have to be email, forum msg or messenger.
If I met an affiliate on the conference and we had a great time together (at EuroPub in Amsterdam for example
then phone calls seem to be a natural choice, although messenger is also a great tool, especially if we just keep in touch and there’s no need for any major updates.I am aware that some of the affiliates keep their full-time jobs or have other responsibilities and are not always available 9-5… that’s why I usually try to schedule a call beforehand. With messenger things are way easier, as you can see when the other person is online

Email always good for follow-ups, but you guys mentioned that already…

I’m glad that you mentioned this because if I’m going to be approched via MSN I prefer to have a clue of what the person want right off the bat. That way I can decide if I want to be ‘bothered’ at that time or not. I don’t like when folks start off an IM with nothing more then “Hi” or “Are you there”.
For instance I reply to those that will say “Hey Robin, how you doing? I wanted to know blah blah blah, etc”. even if I’m busy at the time.

UkbfvujiMemberI think that the best communication way is email. On the other side, when I need affiliate manager I like to see that he is online on Skype or MSN. I see that a lot of gambling managers are on MSN and Skype and cpays managers are all time on internet and this is great thing.

Lotto-RadarMemberI believe that for first approach email/MSN are the best tools as initial contact, and with the time, pre-arrange phone calls. I always ask my affiliates to give me a date and time for me to call.
Once in a while I just send a quick “Hi” and a reminder I am always available online, even from home in case of emergency.
Cheers to all,
