vladcizsolMemberPage rank is totally meaningless if Google doesnt return your site for searches people enter. I have dozens of sites that are PR6 which do not appear for Searches. They previously were ranked in the top 10 for the keywords I was targeting.
The Florida update and recent Google filter changes have nothing to do with PR. Being a PR 4 or PR5 or PR1 means nothing if potential players never see your listings when performing a search.
For example, do a search at Google for
Games
or
Casinos
or
Casino GamesIdeally Your Site should come up within the first 30 or so returns if you have any hope of getting traffic from Google for terms that seem to be what you would be targeting with your domain.
If you site isnt returned by a search then PR doesnt mean anything. If it is returned then life is good.
Thats the mysterious holy grail, how do we get those listings back? Getting PR is simple.

InactiveI’m having the same problem. One good example you’d think the website http://www.adultaffiliateprograms.org would list in the top 1000 under adult affiliate programs.
Instead general affiliate directories are listed on the first page.

InactiveSomehow I have managed to rocket from nowhere to number 1 for one of my keywords on a site that is only a couple of months old and PR5. The stupid thing is that the optimisation techniques used are the same as at all my other sites.
But then others are similar to the problem Antoine outlines. Mine are nowhere and there is crap in the first few pages that are general in nature when the search term is fairly specific. Very annoying.
Oh well, perhaps tomorrow I’ll be blown to oblivion from my number one spot.

InactiveOn a side note I have noticed a considerable increase in traffic from such sources as msn, lycos and excite. I hadn’t seen excite traffic in years. My listings are more or less the same as they always were. Maybe it’s an indication that surfers are going and trying different search engines due to the poor performance of google.
I dont even use them anymore.

Inactivethe real question is when, with their 5% in google, any move on their side before the Google IPO may reduce the outcome from the IPO to them …

InactiveSpear, the keyword was taken straight from the Overture suggested search terms so I would have thought it would be on the list. As you said, maybe just lucky and I have stumbled across one.
About time I had some luck with Google.

InactiveRegarding overture suggested terms – that research tool seems like a good idea, but just think of all the webmasters searching for their terms (it infates the results.)
Google has targeted highly competitive terms/phrases – whats does this mean? Well take a look at the number of adword ads on your SERPS … if your pages arent stuffed full then your terms arent that competitive. In other words google would have nothing to gain by starting bidding wars for those terms

vladcizsolMemberIts a two edged sword.
The terms revealed by the Overture Tool are very popular and would provide decent amounts of traffic, BUT they are the most highly targeted and contested. -
