I really dont think the bulk traffic vendors do any good.
What should I do to continue to grow my site besides fresh content and active backlinking ?
Looking for advise from those that have been there

Fresh content and links is the winning formula.
Plus if you want a jump start, register with overture UK ( ensure it is the UK and not US as the US do not accept gambling ads ) and bid for a few PPC keywords. This will get you quality targetted traffic but it does not come cheap.
With some research, you can possibly find some longtail terms on Overture UK that you can get for less than 20 cents per click or so.
You are compleyely correct about bulk traffic. Completely worthless. Don’t do what I did and not listen to others. Don’t waste your money.
You may also try goclick. I have got a few real players, but don’t compete for the big words. I feel the big words may have some fraudalant clicks, and when I emailed support, they were not any help.
