Brad, You are very welcome and thank you. You do not have to put anything on the articles. The weekly columns will have contact info at the end of them. If you do I would prefer that you put a link to xwww.thepokercolumn.comx (remove the x’s) on them. It is not up yet but will be by next week. It will not be an affiliate site, so it won’t compete with any sites the articles are on. I plan to use it as the contact info on the weekly columns.

To clear up any misconceptions about dublicate content for newbies: I certainly dont know a lot about seo, but if my memory serves me correct I believe I read that there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty. If this were the case then all the news websites, CNN, ABC NEWS, ect that have their news syndicated would have their sites dropped. There are millions of articles distributed on the web word for word with no penalty at all. The search engines may apply a filter. It’s simply the search engines not wanting to show a search results page full of the same exact thing. But there’s no penalty involved. They simply choose to show the page that they deem the most “official” of the content. What they don’t want to do is show 97 versions of the same content just because it happens to appear on different sites. This provides no value to the searcher in their mind. It could be a good idea to maybe alter the article just a tad but I just dont know enough about it. SEO can be very confusing as there is just a whole lot of info to know. By the way I got this info from the high rankings forum, it can be a great resource for people trying to learn about these topics.

TRIPAAA – I don’t know what the average in the industry is for a syndicated column, but I get roughly 10-12 bucks a week for a subscription to my column. The same column goes to numerous webmasters though. I do allow my subscribers to alter the articles for SEO purposes. As for original content, you can buy it anywhere from .05 a word to who knows how high. I charge much more than a nickel, but those that buy it are usually pleased and I always have work. If you buy the cheap stuff, be careful as alot of it is terrible. That is not to say that you can’t find decent writers without spending a fortune though, you just have to do alot of trial and error.

Bonusgeek – Thanks for the information. In my experience that is 100% accurate. The page that gets displayed first comes from a mixture of who had it up first and the authority of the site, but it is always best to avoid exact duplicates if possible.
