InactiveIf you are placing the llinks for the sake of traffic there may be minimal benefit since the industries you already have a presence in are not very related. If you have a smilar target market however, the few clicks a month might be worth it. If you already have a method of linking, then what do you have to loose?
From an SEO perspective, the current thought is that links from unrelated sites don’t help you much in the SERPS, though several people have examples where it does help in passing along PR. In the long-run though, it looks like the search engines are trying to reduce the power of links that appear irrelevant. The rule of thumb is “if it is relevant to your users, than it should be relevant for the search engine.”

InactiveMy idea was to place a banner/text ad to party poker or one of the poker sites in the male orientated sites and maybe slots/bingo on the female orientated ones. Just wanting to get some ads out there while I build a gambling site.

InactiveI would guess that the CTR is going to be low but if targeted to the right niche, you may be able to get a few signups. Without knowing exactly what products/services you sell on your other sites, it’s hard to tell.
If you have a shopping cart, you could do something that Amazon does at checkout. If you are buying a product in a certain category, they offer similar type products. If you’re selling decks of cards or a poker table, you may want to also offer a casino/poker room offer.
Good luck.

But, are you going to put furniture ads on your gambling sites? Ok. it’s an experiment that I won’t knock. Gamblers need furniture too.
I say get the most bang for your buck, and that probably means keeping ads on your topical sites on topic.
I do think you have a point about the demographics. I’m still thinking if I’m selling rims, I’d much rather test general auto parts ads on the same site instead of poker.

InactiveI’m experimenting with the reverse of this. Posting non gambling affiliate ads on my gambling site. It was working alright for me when I was getting craptastic traffic, but now that I’m getting better quality traffic… we’ll see.
