InactiveThey only have suites available when I checked the other day. We are going to stay elsewhere as a result, but somewhere central.
Anyone got any good suggestions?

InactiveThere is a hotel called “The Grand” nearby. A Really nice place. Its less than 5 minutes walking from the hotel.
The Krasnapolsky also has a sister property called the Barbizon. I’ve never been there, but hear it’s OK.
I’ve seen the Intercontinental Hotel.. That’s nice too.
Check Hotels.com, see what comes up.
There are also alot of small hotels in the immediate area not listed….. best place to check is http://www.YELLOWPAGES.nl Just type in HOTEL in the First Box, then Amsterdam in the Third. The Search will figure out what you want and you’ll figure out the rest.

InactiveNote for everyone !!!!!!
There are a number of “hotels” in Amsterdam (especially on the Damrak and surrounding areas) that although technically ARE 2* or 3* hotels, are i fact not fit for human habitation !!
I know this cos I have made the mistake in the past and would never do it again. By all means follow the http://www.YELLOWPAGES.nl link, but you might want to check it out on tripadvisor.com or something similar prior to booking
(One example : 3* central hotel on the Damrak had blood stained bedding, no lift to 6th floor room, and the room itself was about 8ft square and had NO heating…This was a “luxury double”)
Err on the side of caution people !!!!
