InactiveI just wish there was a way to send you a tankful of fuel or two. It is getting scarce even here, but if one gas station doesn’t have any, the next one will.
It is ironic how things that are so common place that we don’t even think about them as a rule can allmof a sudden become so ver crucially important.
Hang in ther Ken, let me know if there is anything I can do or send, and if you have homeless friends or neighbors, you know to contact me.
The best of luck!

InactiveThankfully your family is safe, Ken. It must have been agonizing after you lost contact with them on Sunday… I can’t even imagine what that would be like. This certainly is a tough time for a lot of people. Hopefully you will be able to return home soon.

InactiveMy uncle had just bought a new condo in New Orleans (hadnt even moved in yet)
He fears its now gone along with both of his boats that were docked at one of the near by marina’s.
Thankfully all our family members in New Orleans are safe at this time.

InactiveReally sorry to hear that, Ken. I hope all is well when you return home.
Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
I’ve cancelled my Vegas trip as well due to pressing matters here at home – my new businesses are scheduled to open at the end of the month and there are still too many unknown variables for me to take 10 working days off. I’m probably going to donate the expenses I saved towards the Katrina relief effort, but if you need a hand I’d like to offer it to you first.

InactiveI hope things really work out for you Ken …. I have family in New Orleans (lots) some who just moved there from ravaged Pensacola only to be doomed again.
My thoughts go out to you

InactiveHey some people like the Police decided to go on a shopping spree in New
Orleans and told the people it was ok for them to do the same and then
the Army shoots them.

InactiveThanks for all the kind thoughts for me and my family.
However, we’re the lucky ones. We’re safe, our home is undamaged awaiting our return, and we had the ability to conveniently depart the area while things improve.
My week has run the gamut of emotion, from fear for the safety of my family, to guilt about how easily we were able to sustain a comfortable existence while so many hundreds of thousands of others were suffering.
So much tragedy, so much loss. My heart goes out to the many families who lost loved ones, or still don’t know the status of their loved ones.

My god that video is unbeleavable, couldn’t beleave it when the reporter asked the police what were they doing and there response was looking for looters and at the same time there looting and filling the trolleys up along with the 100’s of other people in there.

InactiveMy Prayers are with you and your Family Ken. This happened here in Florida to us last year, but nothing like this one.

InactiveWoohoo! We have power! There are crews from Nebraska in our neighborhood, and we had power for a few hours last night, it’s on tonight, and after more darkness tomorrow we’re expecting permanent restoral of service tomorrow.
Clean-up is proceeding, and many of the critical shortages for our area are being resolved. Fuel is now available at many locations, with a $40 limit. Most water is back on, though boil-water notices continue throughout the region. Power is restored to about 50% of homes in our area, and proceeding amazingly fast.
This wasn’t a situation where they had to repair lines. Instead, pretty much every pole has to be replaced. I’m amazed at how many linemen are out there working, from every imaginable place. These guys are amazing.
Life is good, and getting better.
