There’s no connection, in the sense that you might be implying that one situation was engineered by the other. It’s just a coincidence, and nobody (well, almost nobody) is happy with these sky-high oil prices. But, in the spirit of finding a silver lining, you’re right: The situation with gas prices, and the travel slow-down that has resulted from it, has presented a positive opportunity for those of us who are working to make online gaming websites a more attractive destination than the brick-and-mortar casinos.
I have to add, though, for anybody who feels that current gas prices mean no more trips to Vegas — due to the reduced number of travelers this summer, many mid-tier Vegas hotels are offering very attractive rates, some of which are much cheaper than I’ve ever seen before. So don’t be too hasty in deciding not to take a casino getaway; you may find that the low hotel prices more than make up for those high gas prices. I’d recommend checking out a travel discount website and seeing what kind of deals can be had.
