InactiveYes, but it all depends on how the SEO is done. I’d be interested to hear from some people on techniques to avoid — submitting to random directories, excessive keywords, etc. :hehe:

Inactive:rasta: Well I haven’t been doing this for long maybe month and a half. I decided after 20 years in the gambling industry i must know something. Nobody likes to share secrets but i will share some. Bear in mind I am no professional like most of the people on this forum. Basically to promote your site go nuts create a system of chaos. Download as many free trial seo programs as possible. Learn how to use them effectively. The first seo program I would try would be Web Ceo the offer first time free submission then continued monitoring. Remember in my opinion ignore google page rank its bongus. Some sort of toy. This is a big topic and lots more to share. If you get into web ceo the program will tell you most of the things you need to know. Be prepared to work hard this is hardly a hobby.

InactiveA lot of the top performers are no where to be found in the serps. Amazing but its true. So either they are living off of their past player base, doing something offline, or have really good relationships with the programs and are mooching :kisser:
SEO is tough if youre not in the top 10 for top keywords it will take you a long time to see some steady income. Is it really worth all that trouble and hard work? My answer no give up before you start :roflmao: the less competition I have the better.
Good luck. :drunk2:

InactiveI’ve been in the industry for 2 years doing well and never bothered with SEO at all because it seemed like too much of a gamble (haha) one month you’re up, next you’re out of the listings completely, total lottery – the best way is to master paid advertising methods in my opinion. This works for me but as I said I have not tried any SEO whatsoever, it is far too much guesswork for too little reward. And remember now you’ll be competing with multi-million dollar companies who can afford teams of SEOs so I doubt someone working on their own will get anywhere near the top 100 for any gambling keywords.

InactiveSEO, is, despite what some may say, very hit and miss. Stick with the basics, there are no secrets but one and that is fresh content is king. Keep it relevant to your page and you will get there. Tricks may get you listed but also may dump you the next day into SE oblivion.
SE position is also vastly over rated. You have a top ten spot for blackjack? WOOOHOO! How much money did that earn for the month for that super duper blackjack optimised page that tells a visitor nothing but a bunch of keywords you spent hours coming up with? Zero?
I’d rather have 1 page less optimised and linked from other pages that can be found quickly…the way I search myself, I want the most relevant information as quickly as possible, not a mass of click here clik there mumbo jumbo.
Bottom line, put yourself in the surfer seat.

InactiveDefinitely some good points being made. SEO can be successful if done properly, but as Deaning pointed out, winning in SEO and on the web in general is all about site relevance. If your site is relevant to the information people are searching for then you will have stronger conversions, if you are spamming search engines, then conversions will be much lower, and Google will kick you out for the spamming one day.
Google is very concerned about relevance, it is their lifeblood and the reason they are valued at over $80 Billion. If they aren’t returning results relevant to a person’s search, then that person will go elsewhere to do their searching and Google will be out of business. The lesson for marketers is to create a highly relevant site, market yourself for what your site offers, not generic keywords and you should do fine.
Just don’t forget that content is king.
