Yes you can still earn an income from your site if you’re prepared to add glue to your seat and work 24/7. That said the online gambling landscape has changed a lot the last two years. Gone are the days where you can harvest traffic from link farms, directory submissions and link exchanges. Google now places special emphasis on well written content and guest blogging also helps. Being an affiliate nowadays entails a holistic approach since there are so many facets of your site you must focus on.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck with your site.

Thank you for sharing your opinion!:colgate:
I have been thinking about this a lot as I am aware of the points you mentioned about the online environment which has changed a lot lately.
Well, I have nothing to lose apart my time at the moment, so I think I will start again putting efforts on my site, maybe trying not to put all my eggs there but having also a couple of other affiliation sites in some other industry as well.

You can focus on this full time but you have to work very hard as you know. This is far beyond easy money..

Yeah I can imagine, there is a lot of work which needs to be done in order to get a decent earning level.
I used to work a couple of hours a day on this site 5 years ago and I had maybe the luck of the beginner, so that I got some initial gain, but then I started my daily job at the office and I did not have energy to work daily on my site so I let it go.
Now that I am finished with the daily job and can not find a new job…., I have plenty of time to focus on this affiliation business.

I am a full time affiliate, however I will say a couple of things.

    1) The days are gone where things were easy, and to get anywhere you have to work hard
    2) You’ve got to be in it for the long term

I’ve learned a few things in this industry over the years.

    1. Never give preference to one affiliate program right across your network. If one affiliate program goes belly up or turns rogue, you don’t want most of your income to go with it.
    2. Diversify your sources of traffic. Google is the best source of traffic, but not the only one.
    3. Have at least 1 primary website that you work on everyday. Ask yourself this question, “If this wasn’t my website, would I still bookmark it and re-visit it?” If not, then ask yourself, why?
    4. work, work, work and then…. work!

As others have said, you can still be successful, but it’s just a much different approach than what you might have been used to. I’d suggest starting out be educating yourself on the current landscape of things

Thanks everybody for sharing your opinion on this matter, you touched some very crucial point!
Now I think I just need to stop postponing and start the renovation of my website and make a good marketing plan for it at the same time. More traffic is what I need (traffic which converts obviously :D) and that is where I have failed till now! But I’m confident with focusing on the right things and proper amount of effort success can be achieved ::clapper:

I wish you the best of luck with it. I too could not find a job in my field so I literally taught myself webdesign by working as an affiliate. Now I make websites for businesses as well as “play” on my affiliate sites. It has really changed my life because now I consider my work “play” as I enjoy it so much. A full customized website sells for a pretty penny round here.

It was not this way at first…I have no shame in saying that if I had to live on what three months of building my affiliate site (never made a website before) earned my family we would be dead. I do however believe you are right, “I’m confident with focusing on the right things and proper amount of effort success can be achieved.” Good luck again!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I am happy to know things got better for you after you started working on your project. True, it is nice when you enjoy what you do for a living, as you said, takes effort but at the same time it is like playing!

Absolutely cruicial is to have some fun and be creative with the site. When you are having fun it shows. Treat it too much like a 9/5 job and you’ll bore them to tears.

I also like to keep my options open, but it also speads your focus too thin when you diversify. If you write like a human and avoid the old ‘spammy’ ways, google should ‘come around’ and reward you with traffic and visitors and $$.

    Good luck and enjoy!

You can definitely earn a good steady income in this business! But like said before: it’s not easy money! It’s hard work, which you have to enjoy. Find a good niche and specialize.

I started in mobile gambling back in 2008 as a hobby and was able to quit my daily job a few months ago to become a fulltime affiliate!

    Good luck!
