I’m wondering does anyone have any info about the legality of promoting online casinos in Canada?

    Thanks.

The laws in canada are similar to the US. Virtually very cop, prosecutor, judge, politician and lawyer will say it’s illegal. The only case in canada was Starnet, about 5 years. They were running sportsbook, hosted offshore from Canada, but their homepage redirect server was in canada. The agreed to plea bargain, paid $10 million fine, moved operations to UK

The canadian media is very anti-gambling and each springs features all the horror stories of gambling. So the climate isn’t good, but the government hasn’t done much yet. The mounties are in the midst of scandal or two, so maybe they’re distracted.

I don’t promote in canada and no longer work US.

Thank you, AmCan for your reply.

So if I wanted to start up my own portal, should I have it hosted offshore, perhaps in Europe somewhere? I’m assuming this is the best practice.

What boggles my mind also is why there are some online casinos that still accept Canadian players not to mention US players. Are they playing the dice themselves? Again I’m assuming they are.
