hmmm
i see more and more affiliate programms making banners
where the URL to the Casino is on
why are they doing this?
do they hope then the players just type in the URL in their browser without clicking on the affiliate banner?
I dont find another explanation for this.
i would just find it unfair
a player visits your site, you have the banner up there and some info about that casino, then he see the URL on the banner bliniking
and ……….adios with your player sign up
do you think this happnes?June 29, 2007 at 5:03 pm #741131AnonymousInactive@Bonus Paradise 129494 wrote:

do you think this happnes?Funny you should mention it. I just added a banner with the URL plasted across the top. I’ve always avoided using them for the very reasons you stated. Maybe they are trying to build name recognization?

I will remove any urls on any of the banners I see. I don’t like that much.
June 29, 2007 at 5:10 pm #741137AnonymousInactiveyeah
and they all a trying to get people used on URLs
so if people see many times www. blablabla .com
they get used
so
a player got info on your site…
somewhere back in his brain he keep this info
then one day
he thinks, oh there was a new casino posted
the name was xxxxx
and he just try to type it normal in his browser with the www. and . com at the end. due this is how he always see URLs so its not that hard
just to get people used,
this is a point either
jaaa, i think this sure happensJune 29, 2007 at 5:16 pm #741138AnonymousInactiveI hate that and never use banners that do that.
If it’s not an isolated occurrance for a program, I will actually get pissed and lower exposure, even without the URL.
It’s MY site, and MY url will stick in people’s heads, and MY account will get the credit.

I agree, that’s what they want. It’s blatant and underhanded. Every program which does this should know that most affiliates are not complete fools and will see right through this.
June 29, 2007 at 11:22 pm #741182AnonymousInactiveSimply tell your AF manager that if they cannot come up with better banners for you then you will just not promote them any longer, and yeah it is more then tacky IMO
June 30, 2007 at 10:26 am #741203AnonymousInactiveI generally agree with the above posts. I have used one or two in certain selected areas but generally will swap any banners that have a website address on them for another site that does not.
Affiliate Managers should take note of this thread.
June 30, 2007 at 11:37 am #741204AnonymousInactiveYes, that’s true, and I always prefer to choose a banner without the url, and sometimes I ask aff programs to make me several banners without their urls, because I think it’s not fair.
June 30, 2007 at 12:52 pm #741206AnonymousInactiveThe URL is there to 1) build brand and 2) get a type and screw the affiliate.
I don’t use banners like that. there was a program who refused to created banners without there URL. So, i fixed it myself, by using style sheet to cover the URL with rectangle of the background color. SCREW THEM!
