vladcizsolMemberWhat an absolute load of bullshit!
If Cryptologic pulls from the US Market….
and 90%+ of Playtech pulls from the US Market….
and now Microgaming Operators are starting to pull from the US Market…
HOW THE FUCK can IGC say the bill doesnt amount to a ban on Internet Gambling? If US citizens CANT play because no reputable company will accept their business then what do you call THAT?
Whats the damned difference?

LOL. Guess it’s really a matter of semantics.
The bill itself does not mean a ban – however, the actions of the operators ultimately end in a result which is as bad as a ban.
Under the circumstances, this is probably all IGC could do in terms of a statement – though, as they were once the premier lobbying organization, I guess one could also say that a much stronger statement could have been made.

vladcizsolMemberSpear thats all it is Semantics.
I am sure on player boards they will be saying the same shit when the last major operator locks out US players…. Here let me guess:
“They will never stop online gambling! People will find a way to do what they want! This is impossible to regulate!”
WRONG! If the casinos do not allow US players then there will be no secret back doors in. If you are a US citizen and you DO manage to sneak in and make a deposit through some creative means then god help you if you win and try to cash out…. I can just see whats going to happen when they require ID verification and find out you are a US player “Sorry but you violated our terms and conditions, no money for you!”
“This isnt a ban on Internet Gambling, its just banks effected. We can still play.”
WRONG! Not if the major Casinos and Poker Rooms refuse your business!
“We will just find somewhere else to play. Somebody will take our business”
Maybe, but if they are not a reputable company operating on a respected software platform do you really want to send players there in HOPES that maybe casino x will pay them? I dont feel warm and fuzzy about that. I respect MGS, I respect Playtech and I also have confidence in Cryptologic.
Its a fucking travesty that my ability to recommend quality casinos to my players is being pulled out from under me.“Well shit, who needs the US market. The United States thinks its the world!”
Without revenue companies cant operate. Most casinos counted on the US for over 80% of its revenue. A few say the number is lower (I am highly skeptical of that claim) as low as 50% or so, buts lets face it if a business loses that much revenue essentially overnight, how many will survive? Guess what if they close down they cant PAY European or Asian players either.Perhaps its NOT the legislation. Perhaps its the REACTION to the legislation. But if we all go hungry in January because our commissions have dried up to a small fraction of what we have been earning What difference does it make?
The effect is the same!Sorry to vent so strongly but the Wagershare announcement is a HUGE blow to where we are going as an industry. Let’s just hope it isnt the final domino line starting to fall…

Agreed, but most of the free world will be able to play. Just not the oppressed U.S citizens.

InactiveHey people the IGC have been the major fighters and the only reason you have had this industry for the past 9 years. They deserve respect, their group has funded millions of dollars in Lobbying so you can earn money in this biz.
What they could not fight is the sleazy way congress works. Before you start bashing some group get the facts!

vladcizsolMemberNobody is bashing anyone Brian. And we do appreciate the work the IGC has done in the past.
The frustration being expressed is we have our business falling down around us and yet press releases are being issued that say “All is well, nothing has changed” Well things HAVE changed. I would hope we would all look at those changes without rose colored glasses and work towards salvaging whatever we can in this industry.
The first step to recovery is always to admit that there are problems.
