    Hi Lloyd,
hope you’re doing well as well as all at Brightshare.

What exactly is the difference between using the I-Frame and the other option in your banners?

    thanks

    S.

I know that I am not Llyod, but…

You can use iFrames to do a number of things that static HTML (the second option) can’t do as easily..

Things like floating the information over your page, scroll that specific content (having scroll bars if the info doesn’t quite fit in the page area), allow the contents to scroll automatically much like a news ticker, etc…

Personally, I try not to use them if I do not have to. I do not know the SEO benefit or if all spiders can crawl them properly, so if I can get away with not using them, I don’t.

    That’s my 2 cents.

Hi Chris, cant answer your question but from what i have heard you can use i frames and insert something which is displayed if the browser cant read i frames. im not technical but i think this is a work round.

iFrames also work in Firefox.. They are supposedly considered cross-platform, but only work in some browsers.

    … I shouldn’t have said ‘considered cross-platform’

That kind of goes a little too far :)

Really, they are supposed to gain usage and become accepted by more browsers. Right now I know that IE and Firefox can take advantage of them. I am not sure about what other browsers can.

    Hi Everyone,

Steve, good to hear from you! :)

Okay, here are the banner code considerations:

    1. Both options give you a banner tracking code which includes: the image and a tagged link to the casino/poker room.
    2. You can add a six digit campaign ID to your btag that MUST begin with a letter. In the iframe option you need to add your campaign ID to just one btag and in the plain HTML script you need to add your campaign ID in two places. For example, using the format for All Slots, btag=testtag and campaign ID=C12345 your full banner tag will be astesttagC12345.
    3. Except for the addition of the campaign ID, neither code can be altered in any way. For example, you can’t remove the image link from the plain HTML script and replace it with a link to the image on your server. If you prefer to serve your own banners (which we recommend against – please read here to see why: http://www.brightshare.com/bannersandclicks.php) then you need to use the redirect link with the gif image and not edit the banner code.
    5. The iframe option is the default option, but we have given the plain script option because certain affiliates prefer using plain html script. Both options work in all cases, except on some of the forum threads.

Please let me know if I’ve answered your question. If you or anyone else have specific problems deciding which script to use we’ll look into it for you.

    Best regards,
    Lloyd
