InactiveI have to agree with peralis and everyone else, that this is getting ridiculous. I’m tired of programs (some of whom the managers are friends of mine) who “look into”, “have them take down your pages” or “have a talk with them”.
The response by affiliate programs to thieves stealing content and using it to promote their programs should be to immediately freeze the affiliate’s account. If this is the first offense and the thief removes the content, then maybe “defrost” the account. But let’s face it, many of these people have been doing this crap forever and their AFFILIATE program benefactors, KNOW IT!
It’s probably time for us to start naming the affiliate programs that benefit from this sort of crap and make them answer to the affiliate community.

InactiveThis sort of thing has to stop. All to often I see some programs turn a blind eye. Some dirty webmasters don’t get it!
Perhaps http://www.gamblingonline.itsmyland.com/ would be I good example of something to bring up at the CAC convention, where I will be possibly speaking. greek39

InactiveCan anyone verify – all this content theft and scraping and so forth, are these newer, recent affiliates, or veterans of the affiliate programs?

InactiveCopy and paste url into address to view page. The infrindger has blocked the IP coming from CAP.
I will post what I know so far by Monday of next week if this situation is not resolved. greek39

InactiveHere’s my point – although Burger King would never allow it, but Greek, You just bought a BK franchise and built it, placed a full size grand opening sign out front. I did the same, but built my BK right across the street from you, I stole your sign and placed it on my property and copped all your customers.
I’m still counting the money I made from your customers. I hope you didn’t have too much money invested. But you can afford it, I’m just new at this and trying to make a quick buck – another attempt at online sarcasm.
This is getting so far out of hand and I know I’ve said it before – but affiliates and webmasters are simply competing for top placements in the engines and they’re doing it, which in the real world is flagrantly and maliciously illegal.
There needs to be a cap placed on these programs. There are simply too many affiliates and are pretty much to many to handle and manage.
That’s my view anyway

Greek,
If i read between the lines correctly then
1. You have tracked the one who is responsible for this.
2. He is not just another individual, he is somehow connected directly to one of the programs.I think that if it was “just” another individual, you would post his info already.
I respect your right to keep it secret but i can’t help wondering, if the roots of this are in a program.. why not let us know? why protect the interest of such a program?

InactiveThere are certain issues I am reluctant to speak about right now. This approach will retain the integrity of the data collected. By doing so it puts me in a better postion to help. Please don’t think of it as a secret, but rather a real attempt to get things done. This was the lesson I learnt a couple of months ago.
I do have some info already, but not enough to post. Tracking these things down is very time consuming and often lead into many directions.
I think we all realize my stand on content theft or anything similiar.greek39^*

It is actually more like taking a Stephan King novel and simply giving it a new name and passing it off as your work. In the “real world” you would be sued for millions. Got nothing to do with the quick buck, because you would not be able to keep it.. This is why the affiliate programs should be acting on this and quickly – that is the only way to stop this type of thing.

InactiveWhatever Dean from Focal Click said to him, obviously does the trick.. so far the Sands review is the only one that has been removed.
Goes to show, if the affiliate programs really do get involved, things can actually happen.. wondering now if Dean has been the only one that has actually cared enough to do something about it.

By some of these domain names, it’s obvious they’re crooks.
It is about the quick buck and if not for people like Greek, more would get away with it, if just for a month. If 1000 aff’s join 10 different programs in a month, you now have 10000 more to worry and wonder about. I would have better luck finding the needles in a haystack rather in a hayfield.
It is getting rediculously out of hand.
