InactiveYour post is fine hope someone can give you good advice
I think it would depend on the amount of traffic you have.January 16, 2013 at 9:00 pm #831599
wbprofitsMemberanything form $1 to $1000 or more per month
location , size, geo traffic all come into play
there are no set prices at all

Are you charging that on a CPM basis or just a flat monthly advertising fee?
January 16, 2013 at 9:18 pm #831601
wbprofitsMemberthat 1 is a flat fee , but others are by # of impressions usually smaller in sidebar and about $2.00- $3.00 per 1000 of impressions
estimated about 44k-65k of impressions depending on locationsJanuary 16, 2013 at 10:01 pm #831605
EvelinessaMemberIf you take the CPM route, I would first start by analyzing your competition in the niche. There are websites like buysellads.com, buyads.com, (https://www.buyads.com/search?q=poker) and others that might be able to help you to do so. I don’t know of many affiliates in the gaming space that are running off of CPM, but if you have enough traffic it could certainly be the way to go. From what I’ve seen, alot of affiliates (like gshares above) have standardized flat-fee banners that they include for a pre-determined dollar amount

RommiMemberPersonally I use the wordpress plugin oiopublisher. I been using it since it first came out. You can set your own banner space, price via days, clicks, or impressions, and you control price and how you get paid. Personally I set my banner space to be sold via paypal but you there are other options. The best part there is no middleman taking a commission on my banner space.

And how much/ what rate are you making from this tool then?
I find that most general banner ad campaigns are woefully low compared to affiliation earnings.

Just regarding that last sentence – woefully low compared to affiliation earnings – perhaps you’re right Gooner, but I imagine then you’re either an incredibly well-established affiliate with many high ranking sites already or at the very least in Casino and Bingo and other sectors that are still thriving as far as affiliation earnings.
I’m exclusively in the poker sector – wrote up a whole long post here on CAP a short while back as to why I’ve decided to use the alternative monetization approaches – just impossible to compete otherwise if you’re a solo gunslinger who didn’t start back in the early 2000s: How To Make Money as an Online Poker Affiliate in 2013

InactiveSports is actually my main thing – but we’ve added casino and poker to leverage revenues.
Poker is probably only 2-3% of our total – so I’d agree that it’s a tough road right now for a poker affiliate.I’ve been approached by general ad companies before – but have found their ad sizes and positions very intrusive – and their pay rates at about 1/10th to 1/50th of what I would expect from a gambling ad.
And when it comes to gambling – the best deals are usually rev-share rather than monthly fee or CPM.
If just not found ANY joy looking outside gambling for programs that compare revenue-wise.
Ad-sense, Amazon, Match tickets … all relatively slim pickings.Care to share what sort of CPM or monthly prices you are achieving per page with gambling / general ads then?

hendermaryMemberHey Paul,
Thanks for the reply – and congrats on your success in the other gambling sectors!
Truth be told, I’m not really “achieving” anything yet – see how I started the thread – I was the one originally looking for guidance
…my article stated that I was planning on it, and now after redesigning my site, I’m trying hard to follow through on that plan. What I can tell you is that at the moment I’m just a part-time affiliate (I wrote a 4-article series on that here on CAP as well) and I just love poker, so my one site is what I have the time, passion, and dedication for tackling in my spare time… hopefully one day down the line if and when it gets big enough and the circumstances permit, I can try and make the switch to full-time.
On my site you’ll notice 2 little 125×125 banners. One of them, the GIF, is actually for a mobile poker app which I co-created so technically not really an ad
(feel free to try it though
)…the other I just put up yesterday. I don’t know if the advertiser would like/care for others to know how much they’re paying, but what I can tell you is that we agreed to a flat monthly rate after I showed him some stats (I’ve got 2,000 unique visitors a month, climbing slowly, steadily and surely). In any event, yes 100% for sure the market for gambling ads flat rate and CPM is far higher than for pretty much any other industry. The better sites out there deliver in terms of a high-quality audience, so even if you’re talking relatively low traffic, it’s all excellent traffic with high conversion potential. My audience in particular is mostly in the U.S. so online poker advertising doesn’t really do anything for them….but for products they could be interested in, an advertiser should be (and is) willing to pay.
Hope that helps…
