vladcizsolMemberI loved it, but as usual I am exhausted. I had so many meetings I literally lost count and I came away with a ton of new business.
My favorite part though is seeing old friends and making new ones. To me its really important to meet with people who actually understand what we do. It’s so frustrating, and sometimes lonely, the rest of the year as most “civilians” around us really dont know what to make of us.
Most believe we are doing something shady, or we are lazy and refuse to get “real jobs” and just lounge around all day and “play” on our computers. You get this crap from friends, neighbors and relatives alike.
Then at a CAP event you are suddenly surrounded by people just like you. People who get it. They KNOW how challenging being an affiliate is and the work involved to achieve even moderate success. They understand the sacrifices made and endless hours spent glued to a computer screen while our families are at the movies, mall or watching tv together.
The emotional reinforcement that we are NOTalone and that there are thousands of people who share the same common experience is very comforting to me.
Lastly the parties, great dinners and alcohol dont hurt either. I always look forward to the next CAP event when we can do it all again.
What a wonderful business we all work in!
See you all in Sydney and London :hattip:

InactiveWas a good one also for me.
Looking back a couple of months I wasnt even sure I would still be in the industry after a particularly turbulent start to the year. Luckily I made it and was glad of that fact.
I met a bunch more new face, some old faces and some very good friends that without this industry I would never know. Even after all that alcohol I still managed to remember at least 1 meeting…not telling who I forgot but if you dont hear from me can you get in touch….whoever you are? :sarcasm:
Was another great event and always happy to be involved with them.
Thanks to Karl Dukes from MediaHut for making it that bit more special too. :cappy:
P.S. Did anyone else have the prawn on Day 1?

InactiveThanks, Professor, for your insightful depiction of our industry’s routine lives between CAPs and conferences. It does get annoying trying to explain to other ‘outside’ people what we’re doing here. I usually get blank stares or criticizing nods

InactiveI must admit that we pushed the partying theme a bit far this time, with an aggregate of about 8 hours sleep spread throughout the 3 days. Was the quickest flight in history on the way back, feel asleep after about 13 seconds.:drunk2:
Business wise, well its always nice to hook up with old friends on all side of the industry and to meet new ones, made a couple of new deals that I think will be good for us and strengthened the old ones.
Thanks you everyone involved in making this great event happen and a special thanks to Affiliate Lounge for taking such good care of us as always

WOW! that is exactly the way it is! When I get to the conferences I feel refreshed to hang with friends and meeting new friends is even a bigger plus. I met a few people from CAP that I have been wanting to meet for a long time now.
The conference was a huge success for me again and I really enjoyed several good friendly debates, the only draw back was having certain affiliate managers being really rude and demanding my attention when I was in meetings with others or just speaking with friends, I hope that this does not happen again, what is wrong with taking a few mins to train your new affiliate managers on general manners when it comes to these conventions? It was bad enough that I had to leave the hotel a few times and conduct meetings across the street at cafes.

Actually, I had prawns on the day before day 1 on Karls boat…. and I was in the ‘same boat’ as Anthony…
I have a feeling it wasn’t the prawns though, but the other, more creamy stuff I mixed with the beer…Seriously though, parties were FANTASTIC! Apart from lining up for half hour to realise there was no beer left… I guess you gotta do in Rome what the Roman’s do.. I’m going to have to get used to drinking spirits again for the next conference..
Although I can guarantee that in Oz, we NEVER run out of beer

It’s Pure Blonde all the way

I ate so many of those prawns and they did nothing to me, so must just be your stomach mate…
Too many cream filled pastries for me I think.. mixed with beer… not so good.

betsafecasinoMemberAs i mentioned in my previous thread, the Barcelona convention was my 1st CAP, and as a cap virgin, i had a great time, business and social wise. To be honest, at the beginning i didn’t relay know what to expect. All i knew from reading about previous cap’s in cap’s forum was that it’s all about doing some work and having lots of fun. NO ONE warned me that I’ll find my self working non stop 20 hrs a day, drinking 10-15 beers a day, not to mention the other kind of alcohol i found my self sipping down my thought in the great parties.
Un like most of you cap veterans, for me, most of the faces where completely new, and as a friendly chap who likes making new friends, especially ones who are fond of the liquor and the music as i am, all i wanted to do is get to know as many as possible. In some cases I’ve even forgotten the main reason i was sent to Barcelona by my company in business class and expensive suits, and got lost in a philosophical conversation with one of the beautiful show girls who swamped the place with relay (and i mean relay ! ) short pence, over the question, does god exist (how should i know, but if he does than she is defiantly one of his girls).
Any way, i had a great time and for that i would like to thank (again) the professor and all his team, and all of you guys which i met for the first time, for making me feel comfortable.
p.s – Although all the parties where great i especially enjoyed the “bar tour” that was hosted and organized by ABSOLUTE SLOTS and their affiliate director Elliot. Besides the great drinks and company, all of us who where lucky enough to hap on the bus on time, got a chance to get a glimpse at one of the most Gothic and beautiful parts of Barcelona. So thank you Elliot, and the rest of the the operators who hosted the other parties. You sure gave me a thirst to come again to the next cap.October 3, 2008 at 2:29 pm #780887Anonymous
InactiveI had a great time at CAP and I am still recovering! I was disappointed that a certain CAP moderator did not get up and dance at the Joker.
The stage was waiting for you…..
