InactiveIsn’t there another step still?
If memory serves right, it passed the house a few years ago and then stalled.

InactiveYes, Dominique, here’s how it works:
– Majority rule in House (i.e., has to only win by 1 vote)
– 2/3 majority (i.e., 67 votes) in U.S. Senate. This latter body is the hard
one to get through. Allegedly, they haven’t even debated it yet in
Senate, so even if it passes in House, it may stall (or die) in Senate this
year.– Then, the bonehead only needs to sign into law.
I think odds are in our favor, although it may get through House in an
abrupt vote tomorrow. Senate is a real, long shot, in my eyes. But, then
again, one never knows……………July 11, 2006 at 1:55 am #698120Anonymous
InactiveYes, that is exactly what happened a few years ago, and I expect no different this time. It’ll get stuck in the senate and we’ll start all over again next year. And again and again and again…..
Let’s hope I don’t have to eat my words but I don’t think so.

InactiveAs we speak, for anyone in US, this bill is being debated live on C-SPAN.
Great job from a rep in Nevada (Shelley Barkely) who is asking for an amendment to ban interstate horseracing and lotteries to bill 4411. I believe they will be voting on the Amendment or the bill itself before the day ends.
