Guestenterprise that derives income from operating an internet web site that
8 transmits or receives gambling informationtransmits or recieves gambling information. Wow what a sin!
does nobody besides myself see only the fact that free speech is being done there? Where the hell is the actual providing of gambling? not in sight. What has the US come to when they start persecuting people for merely providing information? makes me sick.

Good point, that didn’t even kick in.

HB 1243 p. 2It is really debatable as to whether an affiliate site would fall into this classification or not. Yes, income is being derived, but the act of “transmitting gambling information” can be interpreted as pertaining to actual operators only.
It really doesn’t matter to me, since I geotarget all my visitors, and don’t permit US customers to route out anyway. My problem is that NETeller will not support my receiving funds from operators, since I am a US citiizen, even though these monies come from foreign sources. To me, that is the major problem, that this recent round of DOJ strongarming has caused.
All we can really hope for, is Antigua/Barbuda being granted permission to start selling American DVD’s, software, etc., real cheap. This could force the US’ hand somewhat.

InactiveThis is a Washington State specific bill right?
January 29, 2007 at 5:12 am #724725Anonymous
InactiveYes, this bill is Washington specific. But Washington has arguably the toughest (most rediculous) online gambling law on the books.
I live about a 45 minute drive from this State Representative. When I get home, a phone call followed by a road trip is in order.

InactiveI have my forum members ringing the phone off the hook…this is an important start as some of the pollies should be starting to realise they can get huge press if they get on the side of the vocal minority. Press interests ’em anytime!
If Washington turns it around it will open the floodgates…ok maybe a bit of exaggeration BUT other states will take notice.

:thumbsup:deaning wrote:…it will open the floodgates…ok maybe a bit of exaggeration BUT other states will take notice.I don’t think you’re exaggerating at all. Players in other states will see we can fight this and we can win it! This is a God-send opportunity… something so importatnt happenning less than an hour from my home!
As I mentioned… APCW has some huge announcements planned for the next week or two. Just wait, friends… it’s coming.

InactiveThose being vocal are in the minority but not so much as the Transexual Polish Butchers Liberation Front…they have a problem getting anyones ear.

HUGE announcements? C’mon don’t do this to me I wanna know nowwwwww!
OK I just got it. You bloody little ripper! OMG you are so up there in my legend book and the VERY best of luck!

It will take luck, 23 hours a day hard labor, an increase in membership, and a little help from the Man upstairs…
…but we are determined to get it DONE.

InactiveThis is a fantastic find! Great to see that there are some hope and that from Washington, this great news and worth getting excited about. I thought some of you would like to put a face to the name, here is a vid of him calling for re-election. http://leginfod.leg.wa.gov/asxgen/hvs/Strow256k.wmv?userhostname
I think the attack against the affiliate sites are not aimed at legit affiliates as such. I believe his intentions are good with including that segment in the bill. I just fail to see the point in it though, and would love to have a cup of coffee with him to discuss the bill in more detail. :happydanc
I mean seriously, he is excluding sites that are the face of the industry, the front line of what people see when they look at the industry. Yes some (BUT only some) are completely off track and spammy but excluding all affiliate type sites just makes no sense. Besides it is not solving any problems. If I rank on Google in Washington, and a player clicks on it what will they do about it by this bill. I really see no point in it at all. Perhaps he needs to have a good quality discussion with some role players in the industry to fully understand it before trying to legalize it. Nonetheless this is a great step in the right direction!January 29, 2007 at 2:01 pm #724759Anonymous

Filtering information is censorship. If we are to go this way, the World is walking backwards.
They are customers for information at your site and customers of gambling at casinos, not at your side.

InactiveGeotargeting might hurt your seo, since you are filtering US IP’s you are also filtering the main search engine bots. All of googles DC’s are located in the US, so by geotargeting you are filtering google bots.
