InactiveBluehost would be my top pick. It´s all Linux and the plan offers really good value for money.
They also offer one of the most liberal PHP development environments i.e. you can access and change the php.ini which may come in handy sooner or later. They have CPanel so the user interface is pretty standard. Bluehost is based in Utah.
Hope that helps.

InactiveWhat about up-time? Have you experienced any problems with this? Do they use backups incase the servers go down? I’ve had so many problems with my current provider with down-times.
Thanks for the info!

InactiveI took a look at bluehost and I like what they have to offer. I can get a dedicated IP which is very important to me. However, they don’t have server redundancy. This is kind of scary to me because that is the reason I am moving from my old one – constant down time.
They boast 99.9% up-time – so from your experience, how’s the down time?

InactiveHave been with them for 8 months and only had one downtime issue where I think large parts of Utah were hit by a power outage and after a while their back up generators gave up which resulted in some downtime at about 5 in the morning.

InactiveI’ve been using Site5 and I’ve been pretty pleased with them. Uptime seems to be good, controls are good, and they’ve got a decent user forum. My only complaint is that they seem to be growing at a decent clip, and the email support has slowed down a bit. You get a fixed IP, and if you run multiple sites, you can set them up independently, which is sweet. For me, the next step is either a VPS or a dedicated server. Good luck!

InactiveHey ewhitaker, check out Dreamhost,
· 20GB of Storage and receive additional 200MB each week
· 1 TB (Terrabyte(1000GB)) of Bandwidth and receive additional 8GB each week
· Host Unlimited individual Full Domains and websites
· Free Domain Registration
· PHP/MySQL/CGI/Jabber/Ruby on Rails/Dedicated/Colocation/VPS/Cold Fusion/much more…$7.95 a month.
This is the best one I’ve gone to, they stand out and go above and beyond the rest of the competition and I believe they are the 6th biggest hosting service in the world.
The thing i like is you get to host unlimited domains, I have like 50 websites on here and no other place does this. I also like the fact that for customer loyalty, they give you an extra 200MB of disk space each week and 8GB of bandwitdh each week just for continuing to be their customer, so the longer you stay with them, the more you get, so I have a lot more space than the starting 20GB. Plus they don’t have the crappy Cpanel setup, I HATE Cpanel, its a generic POS that way too many hosting services use. Dreamhost uses their own control panel which makes things as simple as hell to do and setting up databases and programs were made so excellently easy, my grandma could set them up without technical skill. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to add a new website to host on my account – you click a button, type in your domain and that was it – all set to go! Downtime – they were absolutly perfect since I hosted with them (a little over a year) until a few weeks ago when they had to upgrade everything because they were getting way too many new customers and traffic and there was a bit of some downtime, but after their major equipment upgrade overhaul, they are as smooth as butter and are MUCH more powerful and high tech than they were before.
Check them out and read the rest of the details, they have a ton of different software and apache stuff that I don’t even know about. IMO I am spoiled with this place now and there is litterally no other place that can compete with them, especially offering to host unlimited domains. I urge everyone else to check them out also.:terms:

I will definitely check them out. I didn’t mention that one of the other reasons I was looking for another host was because of hosting several websites on the same range of IPs. It’s not the greatest thing for SEO if you plan on linking them together. Just thought I would mention that incase you didn’t know.
I really appreciate the referrals! I’ve been contacting them all and checking them out. The ones that won’t return my messages or calls get scratched off my list.
