Yes, this is old indeed. However, this was one of the more popular cases of online casinos theft, a lot of money was stolen and many people were affected. If these operators are still in business, they should not be allowed to do the same again.

They sponsored our first ever Sunday session 7 years ago… And never paid us It was a bunch of aussies if I remember and a guy or two from Canada – Never seen any of them since

Fyi, there has been a thread about these people at the WOL forum as well (WINNERonline Gambling Discussion – HIPPOJO (RTG): no payments for several weeks, and no sign of payments restarting). Apparently the company was registered in Cyprus.
