InactiveGiven past topics, a lot of affiliates don’t know a thing about gambling before making their website and learn on the fly (I’m not judging, they say so themselves).. so no, people don’t play the casinos they promote.

goldaMemberI am guessing that most American affiliates haven’t played at 75% of the sites they promote. Not all affiliates are gamblers either so that might play into this a little as well.

aaronsmithMemberHi,
I play at my casinos and I think that all affiliates should to, if you are recommending something you dont know first hand how can you really give good advice and that is what we are casino advice portals.October 29, 2007 at 10:12 am #752532
poluroud20MemberYeah, despite many operators using common platforms, they all slightly vary in some way or another.
For example, look at the way BetFred conduct their operation compared to other PlayTech operators – completely different.
The key is to KNOW who you are promoting inside out so you can relay accurate & detailed information to your players.
Publishing the good, bad and the ugly is beneficial to players – then they can get a good grasp on what they can expect.
Negative points to one player may be a plus to another player – I think transparency and honesty works best in reviews – some affiliates just publish the good stuff and this leads to miscommunication and therefore the life time value of a player is significantly reduced.

Guestabsolutely! you can’t be a competent aff running a competent casino portal if you don’t know what you’re dealing with.
that said …. I don’t always play each and every casino run by the same aff program …but don’t expect different service from one casino to another run by same group and I have played majority of casinos I list …. but for instance …. haven’t played all the casinos listed by Rewards affs though I’ve certainly played most of them ….. *not played some of the newer ones trusting they offer same customer service that the older ones offer…. of which I’ve checked out the majority of their casinos to some extent ….many to extensive approaches as having testers check them out and more than a one time test.
this is a must and a mistake made by many portal owners. They go on what they have heard ….. and then later attack a program because they got a bad report from a player. *which is not bad. at least they were concerned … but you can much more take a stance once you’ve tested for yourself and had testers also run the gammet for you.
if you’re serious about doing your job. ….. you owe it to your readers to know first hand what you’re talking about ……. and addressing issues provided by both yourself and testers about the competency of the programs you list.
anybody who just throws up links to casinos they have no first hand (or second hand …via testers ….and both are important as you may be targeted as an aff and receive special attention) …. is ignorant in their approach. you are trusting programs you obviously have no idea what are like …. and then your readers are trusting your judgement. this ignorant approach makes us all …..(casino portal operators) look bad and though it may appear to some portal owners as an opportunity to take/gain players from those that stupidly put up links to just any place ….it in fact hurts us all.
I urge all portal owners to test (for your own sake as well as players trusting your judgement) …. make sure you know who it is you allow to advertise on your sites.
