InactiveWow, that’s too bad Dominique. :unhappy: I hope you get everything fixed soon!

InactiveThat’s horrible! :unhappy: I am very sorry to hear that, Dominique. You’d think these people would invest their time in building their own empire rather than destroying someone else’s. (Sounds like doubya, lol.) Anyway, I hope you can get back up and running soon

That really sucks! My heart felt wishes go out to you.February 9, 2005 at 6:01 am #661318Anonymous
InactiveChange hosting services. If they were not smart enough to determine that it was not your fault – in the first place, nothing would have happened. And they should have preserved the site so that in case nothing was wrong, they could restore it immediately.

Dominique, if you don’t mind me asking, who was your hosting company?February 9, 2005 at 3:20 pm #661343Anonymous
InactiveThat’s too bad Dom. I hope you get everything up and running fast again. I do agree with Spear that you should change hosts right away.

InactiveMost hosting companies do regular backups, have you asked to see if they have a backup available? i lost a mysql database once and was able to get it restored.

vladcizsolMemberSorry to hear that Dom. I know server trouble is a real pain in the ass. I hope they get you back up shortly.

InactiveWell, we had to start from scratch installing everything on the server, all the operating system and all the programs. We are also tightening security, and I will likely start maintaining G&C also on a second server, so I can just throw the switch and wait for propagation in case something happens.
The server company has been very good and service completely stable.
I have backups, of most everything. There may be some small gaps of stuff that hasn’t been updated for over a year. Since I recently did an almost complete overhaul, most everything is there for gamesandcasino, save the current contents of the database. But I pulled everything out of there just last week, so not too much is lost.
You just never know what is going to happen. Everyone, be careful to use all possible security features, apparently this hacking into servers to use them for phishing bases is getting increasingly common.
Some of my smaller sites may be lost alltogether.

InactiveI use a third-party dns-service DnsMadeEasy and two different servers for my sites.
If something happens to one of the servers, the dns-service switches automatically to the other server within seconds.February 9, 2005 at 5:38 pm #661357Anonymous
InactiveThanks, I’ll be checking that out!
