The good thing about pages is that you can reach out to more customers, more easily. When you post a status update in your page, it will show up in your followers mini-feeds, vs. a group which doesn’t have any status update ability.

If you have a nice and well built FB page it can be a great tool, but you need to make an effort with the design and content so it looks like something else than an ordinary group!

Right now i think Groups are the best way to reach out to the masses, but i believe pages will take over more of the “FB market”. Those who are ready with their pages when the market turns will have a huge advantage!

We got a FB page for our portal, but haven´t got the time to build it properly, so haven´t invited people to it yet either:sarcasm:! Anyone got a tip or two about how to get a flying start?

We migrated everything for iGB Affiliate Events to a page – TBH at the begining it is hard to get traction and move everyone and initially a lot of people don’t move but in the end they follow. Advantage of a page is you get a limited amount of stats on the members, as Arjun says you get into people’s feeds, you can advertise it, add in a lot more depth and interaction plus I have heard it is much better SEO wise (Don’t ask me why though :3eyes:)

Only pronlem is at the moment a lot of people click their groups button but not as many click the page button but I think that will change

I think the thing with Facebook is, too many companies use it purely to send out marketing messages. It isnt email and shouldnt be used the same. I really think it should be used for two way conversation, extras, extra special offers for your best users, behind the scenes like stuff for your biggest fans. Not just to bombard people with tonnes of selly offers. I think a page helps with this more than a group.

We’ve started up our own little OLBG page for our members, really to help our community spirit and to get some valuable feedback and I’m trying to get the balance right which I know will be tough as it is mighty tempting to try and sell but if I we do too much of that I’m sure it wont work. http://www.facebook.com/pages/OLBG-wwwonline-betting-guidecouk/169066621884?ref=search&sid=1270864282.2278684627..1

i have to say Facebook Pages are far better. One thing, that i have found quite annoying is all the emails i get when i join a group. Most are far too spammy causing me delete them before i read them.

It seems that status messages are less intrusive. So when you are updating your page’s status you are more likely to get a better response. Just my take on it..

I think Pages are more appropriate for SMM. But Page or Group pleeeeeease don’t invite me to be a Fan or Member if it’s nothing more than an advertisement with a link to a portal or casino site! Like more regular FB users, I get several invitations every day that I delete without looking at because so few offer any actual benefit to membership. Do many people willingly give their email address just to receive spam? No. Do I want you interrupting my personal interactions on FB with advertising? No.
