I want to learn how to manipulate graphics and design logos, and I’m starting almost from scratch in terms of knowledge.
I’ve heard that Adobe Photoshop is a good program for this.
Does anyone know of any good resources on the web for webmasters like me who want to learn how to do this?

The web is full of photoshop tutorials just look at these results:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=photoshop+tutorial
Then again I have not used many tutorials as I have just banged my head agains the wall until I got it , but if you´r fond of reading I think there´s a lot of free info around. One way that I found to be helpful was to get photoshop templates and then see how they were done.
I hope this helps,
Cheers – Mika

There are so many features in the pro version that you will never use (believe me, I have been using it for 5 years and about 80% of the proggie is still semi mystery).
There is nothing you cannot do with it and it is a bit like poker, a few mins to learn and a lifetime to master.

I think I’ll try to go pick up the stripped down version of the program on my way home today.

For those of you not willing to learn and would rather someone else just do it, I would love to help and offer my services. I have done some recent work for Randy who can share with you what I did if you would like to see, or my sights feature almost all my own graphics, logos, and banners which you can get the link in my signature!

June 12, 2004 at 2:56 am #650475AnonymousInactiveThat’s what I primarily use but it lacks the effects that other more user friendly programs offer so I have Ace Photo as my backup for special cool little effects!

Sorta the reason I quit web design.
My all out masterpiece and most fun job was for a millionaires escort agency. (Photoshop, flash, fireworks and dreamweaver all got a major workout to the limits of my ability) that was online for all of a week before the proprietor’s boyfriend said marry me but quit this business.
I got paid, but only about 20 people ever saw my Mona Lisa of the web world.
Fuckit. Make more money doing generic portals anyway. BUT, the artistic itch is always there. Will do a DARING portal one day!
June 21, 2004 at 5:36 pm #650734AnonymousInactiveId stick to generic too if it wasnt for my addictive overlyperfectionist OCD that engulps me while im coding and designing LOL
