As far as I know, there are no fees involved in GPWA membership, so you’re looking at the time spent applying as your only “cost”. I’m not a member, so I can’t speak to any membership benefits there.

Correct. There are no costs involved, only the time it takes to be approved. This can range anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks or more depending on how many apps there are to review and how busy John is. Your site must meet certain requirements which are mentioned in the membership forum on their board and you must sign an NDA as well to access the private forums.

I stopped visiting when I took a temporary leave from this business (thought it’d be permanent when I left). I stopped by there the other day but didn’t login. Was neat to see they were using one of our board skins though, heh.

I can’t really say if there’s an extra benefit other than having access to the private forums.

Like many of the oldies here, i was once a member. I’d still be but they wanted me to sign a legal doc and fax it in which I wasn’t comfortable having my own name, signed by me, in a list of webmasters in the biz which if you live in the states, you might not be wanting to make it any easier to be found than you have to: and if subpeonaed (is that spelled right?) who is to say how much resistance will be given before they turn over that list of names?

I tried unsuccessfully to make them see my point. I have heard that they were going to do away with this requirement but then I never heard whether they did or not: I miss my old friends there and its a shame it came to that.

    my 2 cents.

Yep, I agree. John had said the same thing to me a few months back and never heard anything more about it. Still a member, just can’t log into the “Private” area.

I still get the GPWA newsletter. :)
Glad to see the PPC idea was finally adopted. Implemented 4 years ago it would have been a google killer!

Can you give us more details on the PPC idea, as I’m not a member there, but would like to find out! lol

    Thanks,

I’m inclined to apply to join, although I’m not sure about signing a legal document.

Late opinion but I consider worth being a member there.
Before i moved to the operator side I have been the sports forum moderator there and the members and discussions were very helpfull.
Still that was 3 years ago and curently i mostly use CAP.
