vladcizsolMemberF&P a 72hour cookie is unacceptable. Most programs cookie the user with the last referring affiliate or time out after at least 90 days. I would not recommend or promote a program which uses 72 hr cookies.
Ideally a cookie should remain in effect until the user signs up OR they are referred by another affiliate who “closes” the sale. This last referrer policy is very important because in the past unreptuable affiliates were secretly cookieing millions of visitors via spam and 1 pixel pop ups then “stealing” the sales when a real affiliate actually refered the player to a casino.

GuestI would be very interested to know what Poker Room has a 72-hour expiring cookie.
I want to be sure I am not promoting them.

GuestMe too. Give up the goodies please. Or in this case; I’d guess the wording to be; give up the not-so-goodies.

InactiveHi,
I just thought that I would jump right in here. I believe that the poker room you are referring to is UltimateBet.
I wanted to let you know that we have discussed this with UltimateBet when it was brought to our attention a week or so ago and they have a number of people looking into this right now and should have some resolution soon.
UltimateBet had did some stats about a year ago and they did look at the time between download and signup and found that it was incredibly rare that someone would go to the site and then go back again at another time to sign up, at the time they thought that the number would be so small that it would be downloaded the game.
f&p, Professor, Fergie – this is just the perspective that we need to make this change happen.
I’ll let you know when I get an update from UB.
Thanks,

vladcizsolMemberThanks Jennifer. 72Hr cookies seem awfully odd and are clearly NOT acceptable to affiliates.

InactiveJennifer-
I enjoyed meeting you in Vegas. I’ve been promoting UB for about a month now, and I enjoy playing there. I hope you’ll be able to correct the cookie situation and update us.

Having just placed UB after the incomeaccess transfer I too am eager to hear that a longer duration has been implemented.

GuestI just started promoting UB about 2 months ago and have seen some great conversion rates with them. It’s also a poker room that I love to play at.
I don’t anticipate that Ultimate Bet should have any problem extending the life of the cookies, since they did look at the time between download and signup and found that it was incredibly rare that someone would go to the site and then go back again at another time to sign up.
Maybe it is so insignificate that they would wonder why we affiliates are getting our shorts tied up in a know about it, but if it makes us happy, then it’s probably a good idea for them to pump some preservatives into the mix and extend the shelf life of the cookies.
If I send someone to UB, and they download the software because of my promotion, I want the sale. 3 days is not acceptable.

InactiveI was referring to Ultimate Bet, and Income Access is aware and checking into it. I didn’t want to mention their name publically until I got a definite yes/no answer back on if this issue was going to stay the same. I asked because, until the site owner emailed me, I had never thought about the tracking cookies that the poker room, casino, etc. uses and was asking/wondering what the average time is for them from people more experienced at this than I. I disagree that it is rare for people to download software and not register and play right away.
I’ve had problems converting with UB in comparison to others that get similar or less exposure and am trying to figure out what’s wrong. Great poker room, very targeted traffic does not usually equal a bad conversion percentage.
Thanks for the info. Professor and everyone.

Just wanted to give an update on the cookie expiration for UltimateBet. I just received confirmation that the cookie duration has now been updated to 30 days.
