    Somethings happening for sure.

We dropped to page 2 again after clawing our way back to page one

I read those threads at SEO Chat – but am not too convinced yet.
I see that we suddenly have a lot of “supplemental links” listed from 2004 again – which were deleted .. a lot of cached results at the moment – which is weird.

Also.. seach for “online casinos” and you will see that google themselves are listed at number 8.

Hope it is just a hiccup at the moment :eh:

I’ve been trying out a few keywords, both gambling and non-gambling related and to be honest, these are the worst results I think I’ve seen from any search engine for a while.

Google has also shot down a few of my sites as well. :shooter:

I have been reading some of threads at xhttp://www.seochat.com about this update. There are many that are devasted if this update sticks. Some are saying it is this worst update ever. No one seems to have a handle on what Google is doing with this update. Alot of theories floating out there as usuall. It does seem though that Google is changing there algo so webmasters will have to use Ad Words for a front page listing. The problem in our industry Google does not accept online gambling sites. By the weekend I would think we will know what the finall results of this update is. I sure hope that the present results do not stick.

The worst update ever was the Florida Update. It destroyed me at Google and I never really recovered there.

I would give it till Thursday or Friday though before you get too worried. Generally the first few days of any major update are a bumpy ride then things tend to smooth out.

This update has been going on for few weeks now. Seems like it is going industry by industry as people at SEOchat are divided based on which industry they are in. Some people are experiencing changes, others are not. The prevailing theory is that Google might be devaluing link exchanges. At least between sites that aren’t relevant to each other, and that they might be placing an aging filter on links, so those links you got last week are giving you less of a bump than the links you got last year. Sounds sort of like a link sandbox theory to me.

In any case, most people are reporting that they are getting killed in the SERPS for a few days as Google completely ignores their backlinks, then it returns to pretty much normal later on. Where it finally stops, nobody knows. Guess it is affecting gambling related terms right now.

Good.. For my gambling terms (the good ones anyway) I can only go up :)

Hmmm, my serps are returning to what they were in August on Google thankfully as I took a massive hit then. Be interesting to see how this pans out.

I have been seeing changes too :)

Also, all my pages internal and index are pr3 which does not make sense as index should be greater so either i get a 4 or drop to 2 :) It has been that way though since right after last uppdate…..

    WebPro News just sent this:

    Quote:
Google’s resident rock star, Matt Cutts, has posted that a little Google Dance is underway again. Google probably doesn’t derive any pleasure from sending the ranks of SEO and SEM pros hustling to tweak hundreds of web sites for better placement each time they update the index.

Keeping the index relevant and effective for its search users does mean updates are necessary.

“(W)e are constantly working to improve our algorithms and scoring,” Matt Cutts posted on his blog. If you’re reading this article and wondering who Matt Cutts might be, he was one of Google’s first search advertising engineers.

Now, he is discussing the latest update, one in the ongoing series of mini-updates that the search engine performs from time to time. At one time Google could do one big update of everything, but the search engine has had to switch to the more frequent, smaller updates it performs now.

The latest version may include an update to PageRank, as Cutts noted:

Just to give you a heads-up, I think a new set of backlinks (and possibly PageRank) will probably be visible relatively soon; I’m guessing within the next few days. I still expect some flux after that though, just to let you know.

Google updates the index for reasons beyond page rank. Cutts wrote about some of those other reasons:

Some changes are hardly noticed at all. Some changes (e.g. user interface improvements) are more visible. Some changes have nothing to do with spam, such as the changes for Chinese and Europe…. Some changes do try to decrease spam or increase core quality.

Keep an eye on those Google search results. It may be time to update your site again.
