GuestI think it’s a lot more wide spread than you think Dean.
I finally quit using google because of all the redirects I would get (of course, I don’t know if they’re the same kind of tactical approach)
google really has sucked air on this issue IMO for months now.
And I think it’s total BS to allow this stuff to go on. I can’t beleive they haven’t gotten enough complaints for it to warrant their attention.

InactiveThis is a large family of sites. I expect they will be purged because they became too successful.
If you want to get sick seeing redirects, check out this search on Yahoo:

InactiveI got sick.
So, we go down the road of rhetorical ruin and follow the Pied Piper?
Not me. I messed with scripts and cauldrons in my early days when it was fun not livelihood.
Dabble in the dark arts if you will.
Content will win in the end as the Google God crumbles to dust in the forgotten withered….
OK, I went to Disney Land, will get over it….

Meanwhile, Google claims the best algo ever (ain’t got a link for that) and a spammy site rules…
I betchya if you revert to the top spam technique of 1996 with (nearly) white text on a white page you will rank in the top 10.
In ’97-03 no one ever used it (smart webmasters at least) for fear of being permanently banned from Google.
Thank crickey we never, ever relied only on Google. That has been a lifesaver.

InactiveThe good news is that the above group of sites in Yahoo, using the same sort of redirect, were in Google in December (I think it was December) but then they were all removed a couple weeks later. That poker tournament site, as you noticed, uses a different, apparently more clever redirect. Once Google becomes aware of the tactic, which I assume they have but submitting spam report wouldn’t hurt, then this redirect style will also be removed…. and the redirect folks will look for the next tactic that will temporarily work.

InactiveQuote:Once Google becomes aware of the tacticTherein lies the problem. Google in all it’s Googliness has knobbled itself by returning god awful (no capital G) results based on an algorithm worthy of a dipshit award.
Heck, I have been searching stuff like rss feeds, digital to pc apps and Google is a mess.
4-5 months now…they were getting smart and now getting dumber.
Let’s face it, the searcher rules, no SE is there for us at all. It never was.
Suss the algos, do the math, me…I will change naught at all.

InactiveHi Dean,
You are so right on this one.Content, content, content!
Brett was right on his statements. Built a page or two a day with key words for titles and you will win in all the search engines.:rasta:
