From experience and working for many years as an affiliate manager and affiliate myself the salary can range a fair bit. The bottom end affiliate administrators and newbies to the job get paid about $1,000 a month with the top end, such as affiliate directors make over $20,000 a month and normally have a nominal commission structure as well.

The average affiliate salary for a manager who has been in the industry for a few years I guess would be $6,000 a month, however it varies a lot and I believe several managers are probably under that amount.

    understand S:

I think its all about rep. you gain this by one means or another …. and affs will respond.

reason i said ….I felt i could do the job well…..if allowed.

That is true, and reps can take years to build and be destroyed over night. Being an affiliate manager is no picnic, and my hats go off to them all… as a good manager will do the best for the affiliates and make it profitable for both the affiliate and merchant.

I know affiliate managers that make from 1k per month to 100k per year.

    Hi,

i’ve often wondered what aff managers make?

I know i’d be good at doing the job provided i was allowed to do it.

I second that! I think the best affiliate managers would be those that have experience as an affiliate. It seems they would know exactly what to do in terms of communication, payments, and advice on growth.

Being an affiliate manager is not that easy but once you get into it, it is kind of addictive. The salaries range from 1k a month to over a million a year (I know of one manager on this outside of gaming) depending on the affiliate managers.

    Most programs work with managers on;

    1) strict salary only, and a small target bonus
    2) more experienced managers ask for a salary and a monthly cut of the action based on the growth

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affiliate_manager is a good indication of what the affiliate managers role portrays.

I’m surprised that the salaries are so low. It doesn’t make sense. think about it. An affiliate manager has to organize and try to excel the program. If I was an affiliate manager and making $1000 per month, I’d get resentful after a while watching affiliates make serious money, while I was busting my hump for them (Why did I say “hump”, I don’t know where that came from). It’s just human nature. Is that why there’s a high grade of “turnover” of affiliate managers?

I like the “pay for performance” model of business. That would give high performing affiliate managers incentive for performance (fast responses and proactive affiliate support).

It has to be a very difficult job at best, they have to listen to us whine and try please us and do everything right for all. I wouldn’t consider it for 1k a month, they meet a bunch of nice people….but….I don’t think I would do that side for less than 5k a month.

It takes a sick mind to become an affiliate manager :) I agree with Simon that is addictive.

Personally, I like hearing stories about how people became involved in this industry.

And here’s my input on salaries in Costa Rica:

Affiliate Managers/Directors: $1500 – $6000 (depends of experience, operator, etc.)
    Casino Managers: $2000 – $4000
    Casino hosts: $800 – $1500
Sales department: $5/$6 hour + commission
    SEO personnel: $1000 – $2000
    Web Designers: $1000 – $3000

Please note that all employees in Costa Rica need to have a work permit. Your employer may take care of that, however a lot of gambling operators prefer to avoid this hassle.
As a lawyer, I would not advise you to work in the country, unless you have your documents ready. American citizen are allowed staying for up to 3 months as tourists in Costa Rica; however this status does not allow them to work.

If you need any further info, just let me know.

    Regards,

    Natalie Stewart.

Although I’m not willing to discuss my salary in an open forum as I believe it’s a personal thing… I would like to add to this quote above that this is probably why you see some aff managers lose it from time to time. We don’t make as much as some people think we do – and yes, we do have to put up with some *crap* from time to time.
$1000/m is a bit low in my opinion. I can’t imagine any aff manager making 1k per month unless they were living in a country where the cost of living wasn’t very high. However I do envy those aff managers making 6k per month. That’s about the extent of my input though. :)
