I found this on an Aussie 4WD forum and feel it worth sharing:
You’ve got to love Australians. In any other country, the leader would entertain the US President at their royal palace, or some other regal establishment. They would eat the finest cuisine and be waited on hand and foot. Not in Australia.
“The Bush’s will be guests of honour at a private barbecue the Prime Minister is hosting at the Lodge.”
Sensational. John invites George and his Mrs around for a barbie and a few tinnies. That’s what I like about Australia – no pretence – “take us as we are or piss off”.
You do have to like that! Tinnies? Lol! I must assume we are talking about a few cold ones here.
