InactiveI’m confused. Did George Bush write the law and signed it without Congress’s approval? Or did he just approve what Congress wrote?

InactiveGeorge Bush had little to do with the law, but did happily sign it.

Not only did he allow them to “piggyback” the UIGEA on the port security bill, but he also signed it with no questions asked.
Did he even read the bill to see what exactly he was signing? I doubt it.

InactiveOK. Thanks. I was always under the impression that Congress was an independent body and did not know that the Preseident controlled that body of lawmakers. Why even have a Congress?

In the state of the union address GW gave shortly after the UIGEA was signed into law, he vowed to stop this “piggybacking” of bills.
I’ll believe it when I see it. Congress is having a field day by attaching bills that would normally never pass to bills that they know will pass. IE: War funding, port security bills, etc…

Well George would say, they’re needed to rubberstamp his violations of law, but since they no longer roll over for him, i’m sure he’s happy to disband the whole place.
GW is to the Presidency as the AMC Pacer was to quality automobiles with stylish design.

vladcizsolMemberHey! The pacer was FAR more successful as an automobile then Bush has been as a president.
As I remember it was useful if you wanted to haul oversized submarine sandwichs…

InactiveIf it started.
I remember when i was writing diagostic software at ford, a guy who used to work for AMC told me how they couldn’t meet emissions standards and make the car drive well, so they put a sensor in to detect if the hood was up and would run a different program that would meet the standards.
A pacer in bright Yellow was about as bad as it got, unless you consider my cousin’s Orange Gremlin.
